Lonestar 2011 ADN Hopefuls

Published

I didn't see a thread on here for Fall 2011 applicants to the Lonestar nursing program, so I decided to start one.:) I will be applying to Montgomery as my first choice and am really nervous about taking the HESI test with all of the added components. I applied to Kingwood this past application period with an 11.5652 and got an alternate spot, competition was fierce. So, here I go again, hopefully I'll get in this time around. I'm really nervous about the A&P portion of the HESI. I feel like I've forgotten alot of what I learned. Any suggestions from anyone?

Good luck to all applying:)

I definitely agree with all of that Apachemom. It's not the being picky that any of us really mind, but she has been out and rude and unnecessarily condescending to several of us, even if we have everything in order. Oh well some people are just grumpy no matter what I suppose.

Yay! I found it!

LOL... I'm the girl who asked you if Ms. Yanock was picky about how the immunization forms were filled out.

Thanks for the info!

Oh great , I'm glad you found us!!:coollook:

Hmm... maybe picky was the wrong word for me to choose.

I understand the need for all the guidelines and how everything needs to be in order for our protection and everything.

I overheard someone talking saying that, for example, if a date says 1/5/10 on the immunization paper that she would make you go back to the doctor and have them fill it out again to say 01/05/2011. If it does have to be filled out so precise it worries me that she wont accept some of my paperwork because the doctor I went to acted like a little kid who didn't know how to color in the lines. she wrote all over the page and added side notes and stapled copies of my shot records to the back and all sorts of nonsense. When I told her Ms. Yanock wouldn't accept the paperwork that way my doctor told me she couldn't fill it out the way Ms. Yanock wanted it. I thought that was extremely odd since the paperwork seemed pretty black and white to me. I had to go to HPB to get a new form and I went to Rediclinic inside HEB and they were much nicer and we sat down together to fill out the form and make sure all the dates looked a certain way and everything was signed and filled out right. But the whole ordeal cost me TWO doctors visits.

Thanks, TxDiscoDiva I don't usually have many people agree with me. You must have caught her on a bad/busy day, because when I went to drop off my paperwork she was friendly. We have to remember that we are not the only people she is helping. She still has the returning students and faculty to deal with everyday. I have heard from a friend that graduated that she is normally like this during the summer but once school starts she is really nice and fun to talk with. My friend also commented that she does look out for and help the students as much as she can. I am hoping this is true because I will need all the help I can get and from anywhere I can get it.

Namyers, When you went to the HPB did you who her the paperwork before you went to the second clinic? My paperwork has the dates written both ways (just looked at it) and she took it. She just looked to make sure the dates were in the places she needed them to be in not how they were written. So I think who ever gave you that information is not correct.

Sorry to be so wordy but hope we can all start with very little stress.

What format do the dates need to be in, I am filling out my immunization form right now and don't want to fill in the dates incorrectly.

Nicerubio, the format does not matter, I think namyers was given some wrong information. I turned my papaerwork in with written in dates and one that was stamped and she did not say anything.

Oh, ok. I just wrote in the dates matching my shot records in the mm/dd/yyyy format.

Hey guys...need help with getting onto facebook...

That makes me feel alot better!

I would much rather have been misinformed than to worry about having my paper filled out perfectly.

I was getting so nervous... And I just found this website and facebook earlier this week so I didn't have anyone to ask- i felt left in the dark.

My anxiety has calmed :lol2:

I am going to be taking the Hesi on the 23rd and extremely nervous about the A&P portion. I have been studying the Evolve Reach and it does not look like it covers much of whats going to be on the test. I took A&P 1 last 6 weeks and did not have that great of a teacher so I feel a little out of the dark. What can I do to pass this test?

Don't worry about it. That portion wasn't difficult for me. I review 3 days prior to the exam. I got an 88 on that portion.
