Lone Star Spring 2021 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

After a long setback (and a little family tragedy) I am ready to apply for Spring 2021. Since there's only two campuses that have Spring entry, is it prudent to apply to both? What I need to do is retake the HESI and wrap up this "A" in A&P 1. Admittedly, my first HESI was prior to taking the actual class (my overall was 89.6%) and I expect to fare better after taking A&P.

For the 2020 ADN there were 345 applicants for 130 seats.

That’s not bad at all

Where do you get the data from?

I got that info via email from lsc health occupations.

That's a far cry from the reported 1,300

What would y’all recommend for studying the critical thinking portion? I’ve been looking around but no one has any advice.

They’re slight nursing style questions so there’s really no way to study for it but to just practice NCLEX style priority questions, such as, who would you see first. Also, all answers are correct but what’s most correct or how would you intervene first.

No problem! If you have anymore questions feel free to ask, I’m in the program at &Kingwood right now.

Hey Ang, can you tell me what the weekly class/lab/schedule is for the Kingwood program? I would like to work 20-25 hrs/week while in the program and wondering if it’s doable.

Kingwood does seem more ideal for the working student who cannot stop.

Right now everything is online due to Covid.. I’m in my last semester and this is the first time we’ll be starting completely online (besides when Covid initially hit which was mid March) so I’m not sure how it’s gonna go right now but “on campus“ KW is tough. I must admit it’s the harder program out of all the locations. I work, but only 3 days a week but I’m hanging in there. All depends on your situation and whether you have children and whatnot. But to answer your question, lecture is only 2 hours long 2 days a week. We’re done with lab after the first year so we don’t have to worry about that at this point. I also couldn’t tell you what Lab is like for first year students because I didn’t complete my first year at KW but at NH. Clinical is one day a week 10 hour day. Hope this helps.
