Lone Star Spring 2020 ADN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

From reading everyone that got into Lone Star nursing programs I hypothesized one very important point. Correct me if I'm wrong but if you get anything less than A's in English and A&P there is NO chance of admission.

The only instance I calculated a chance is a "B" in English, an "A" in A&P and a perfect 100% on the HESI. Other than that, A's in your classes with a minimum 88% on the exam is my observed formula for entrance.

I see why so many (myself included) get so worked up about the HESI. Anyone else taking the test next week at a Lone Star?

If anyone has taken A&P at a Lone Star over a summer session, how did you find attaining an A over the six-week period? Also, if anyone wants to part with a lab book...(?)

Thank you. I hope it is but I am super nervous. I hear you have to be practically perfect to get in for spring start up. Plus I was just made aware of a glitch that affected my application. My location preference was deleted so they weren't accepting my app and just now made me aware! I applied the day it opened! Anyways when I went in to correct it, all my documents had been deleted so I had to pretty much start over with an application here at the very end. I see a bunch of people have already gotten letters so now I worry I am too late. ?

It doesn’t close until August 5, which is weird as I had I written down as August 1. But no one has gotten a letter yet because they don’t send them out until a couple of weeks after it closes.

I believe they changed the application deadline some time yesterday. I was in a hurry to get my application in due to my PCP not ordering the correct Hep B titer and having to get it repeated and the deadline was still August 1st as of yesterday morning.

If I apply for both Kingwood and Cyfair, am I able to get into both? Or will I only get accepted into one school?

You can only get into one. If the school that you put as your top choice declines your application then it will automatically roll down to your second choice. Now if you get in and decide you’d rather attend a different campus, I think you can go in and see the nursing department and tell them you’d rather attend another campus and you’ll be put on the alternate list. You’d be giving up your spot at the campus you got accepted to and hope that someone from the other campus gives up their spot.

Hi All,

Wishing you guys the best! I had a quick question, so what is the difference between block and integrated programs? And do they both lead to ADN? Ik it might be a dumb question but I am a bit confused. Also, if you anyone knows what was the least score accepted last Spring 2019. Thank you!

The block program is at cyfair and you won’t start clinical until the second semester. You will also have each subject in a class. So medsurg 1 2 and 3. Then the specialty classes. Integrated program I believe will have all the classes mixed together and you start clinical the first semester

So for Block, if I start in Spring, would summer be considered my 2nd semester? also do I pick what classes that are not clinical I can take in 1st semester (If I meet the prerequisites) or are we placed in classes by the program. And sorry to bother bu what does "medsurg" mean? Thanks!

So for the block if you start in January your second semester is in the summer. You do not pick the classes they will. So you would have skills, fundamentals, and health assessment your first semester. Second semester is Medical Surgical (medsurg) 1 lecture and clinical and mental health lecture and clinical.

The extra classes like medical microbiology, pharm, and anatomy you register yourself.

Hi again lol,

Are women nursing(RNSG 2208) and child care nursing (RNSG 2201) classes also considered extra classes? ones we can take on our own or do we get placed in those as well? Tnx ?

I believe the only class that we are allowed to take outside of the plan is pharmacology. RNSG courses are not considered extra classes.
