Lone Star Fall 2018 ADN and LVN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!!

This is my first post, and I'm just wanting some more information and feedback from others on track to apply for the Fall 2018 ADN program.

I have already taken English 1301 in the past and made an A. I am enrolled in an A&P 1 night class for this Fall, and plan on taking A&P 2, Medical Micro, and Pharm during the Spring and Summer of 2018.

I have already had my Bacterial Meningitis shot from when I went to HCC, but I'm not sure where to get "proof" of it for my application since I got it at a Walgreens with no insurance. But I transferred just fine back to Lone Star, so maybe they have a copy? Or I could ask HCC?

I have not taken HESI yet, or started studying, but I definitely feel like I should start buying study books and whatnot before Summer is over that way I can have time to retest if needed.

Getting CPR certified is on my to-do list.

As for all other Pre-Admission Requirements, I will be attending the next Montgomery campus information session to help me figure out everything else.

Anybody have any other information on vaccines, FERPA, TSI, or anything else? Also, does everyone have to get a Criminal Background check or only people with a criminal history? The website is unclear. I also see that it says you have to show proof of insurance "and/or" pass a drug screen. So is insurance mandatory or not?

Thanks in advance for joining he conversation!

Hey everyone,

I'm trying to find the cheapest place to get my testing done. Any suggestions? Also, I was told from someone else interested in the nursing program that a and p 1&2, microbio, pharmacology, and ENGL 1301 are all needed to apply for the program. Is that true?

@ Lone Star College the ADN program requires you to complete both ENGL 1301 and BIOL 2401 with a C or higher at the time of application in order to be eligible to apply. However, it is recommended that you take pharm, ap2, micro, and psych before you start the program. If you don't have the classes done beforehand they will just make you take them while you are in nursing school.

Other programs like LVN, transitions, pt, dental hygienist have different requirements i.e LVN program requires applicants to have already completed AP 1&2 before they can apply.

FYI, in case anyone needs the Heb B titers its $30 (with no insurance) at Express Family Clinic in Spring (it is the quantitate one) .. in case you do need the shots they do the "express vaccination" where instead of the usual 7 months they can do it in 5 months

Does anyone know about the Lone Star getting a BSN program through Lonestar Montgomery. I heard the announcement about a year ago, but nothing since.

I'm going Tuesday to start my accelerated Hep B shots. I'll let everyone know how it goes for anyone who still hasn't done theirs yet either.

I went today to Express Family Clinic in Conroe and got my first shot for $25. I go back in a week for shot #2, and then I think she said my last shot is 2 weeks after that. I'll confirm next Monday.

Forgot to ask about how quickly I can get a titer after the 3rd shot.

Can we not start our application until the first day? And do we use our Lonestar login to access the application? TIA

Health Occupation Online Application (link to application). The app open up yesterday and I put mines in with no problem. However, if you don't have access to application it because you don't meet requirements. Ex. I have not complete A&P2 there for I was denied access to lvn app.

Hello everyone I am a bit confused about what an advising transcript is. I have never attended lone star college so I'm not sure if the advising transcript is supposed to be from lone star or my previously attended schools. Please help! Also apart from the transcripts, ferpa form and the hepatitis results, what are the other requirements? Thanks

I got my 2nd Hepatitis B shot today, and I get my final shot in 2 weeks. They said it would be 4 weeks after that to receive my titer. That puts it right around March 12th. Cutting it close, but still looks like I'll be able to make it before the deadline!

The wait begins. Im checking my email obsessively. Good luck to everyone applying for the fall

They will email you if there is an error on your application. Other than that, the acceptance letters aren't sent out until April. They emailed me because my hep b titer was uploaded incorrectly. I fixed it and resubmitted my application.

If you go to the search bar and type in FERPA. It will take you to the page where you can download the form in .pdf
