Hi everyone!!
This is my first post, and I'm just wanting some more information and feedback from others on track to apply for the Fall 2018 ADN program.
I have already taken English 1301 in the past and made an A. I am enrolled in an A&P 1 night class for this Fall, and plan on taking A&P 2, Medical Micro, and Pharm during the Spring and Summer of 2018.
I have already had my Bacterial Meningitis shot from when I went to HCC, but I'm not sure where to get "proof" of it for my application since I got it at a Walgreens with no insurance. But I transferred just fine back to Lone Star, so maybe they have a copy? Or I could ask HCC?
I have not taken HESI yet, or started studying, but I definitely feel like I should start buying study books and whatnot before Summer is over that way I can have time to retest if needed.
Getting CPR certified is on my to-do list.
As for all other Pre-Admission Requirements, I will be attending the next Montgomery campus information session to help me figure out everything else.
Anybody have any other information on vaccines, FERPA, TSI, or anything else? Also, does everyone have to get a Criminal Background check or only people with a criminal history? The website is unclear. I also see that it says you have to show proof of insurance "and/or" pass a drug screen. So is insurance mandatory or not?
Thanks in advance for joining he conversation!

Hi! Im glad you started this! I am going to apply for the Spring 2018 ADN program (Cy-Fair), but if I don't get it this time around, I will apply for the fall.
I recently took the HESI and passed with an overall score of 90.8% and an 890 for critical thinking. Feel free to ask me any questions about that!!
I haven't taken A&P 1 or 2 yet. I am enrolled for A&P 1 this summer, and A&P 2 and micro for the fall. I guess it'll be a great test to see how ready I am for Nursing school. From what I have seen in previous posts from last year, getting an A in A&P 1 is pretty critical in order to be competitive enough to get in. For example; I have an A in Eng, and 3.6 for HESI, and if I get an A in A&P 1, my total score would be 7.6 out of 8 possible points. If I get a B in A&P, my score drops to 7.1....so the higher the grade, the better.
I started the Hep B vaccine process, but haven't done any of the other ones. From what I understand, you only need to worry about the Hep B for admission purposes, and the others can be done after you are admitted. I still need to get my CPR card as well. For your Bacterial Meningitis, I wonder if you could get a record of it from Walgreens? I went to CVS for my vaccine, and they had my records in there. Just a thought.
You're right though, the website is kind of confusing. Speaking with a Nursing advisor would help. I just moved here from Arizona, and things are slightly different so I have met with the advisor a couple times already. They are pretty helpful.
Sorry it's taken me so long to reply!
You made such a great HESI score and you're just now taking A&P?? Tell me your ways! I downloaded the Pocket Prep app and am pretty good at every subject except A&P as I expected.
I went to the Montgomery nursing session last week, and I feel so much more relaxed about my time line. Also found a clinic in Conroe that gives very cheap vaccines for adults with no insurance... yay! Still need to get CPR certification done.
My only problem now is I have to go back up to the school to speak with financial aid on my SAP status. The online financial aid people were of no help í ½í¸‘ Hopefully everything works out & I'm still able to start school this coming semester! If not, I'm going to pay out of pocket for the CNA classes that way I can at least still dip my toes in the medical world sooner rather than later.
Also a new development is that my boyfriend (of 5 years) may be interested in doing nursing school too?! He enrolled in a Fall A&P 1 class at Lee College and is going to see if he enjoys it because he doesnt want to work in the oil or construction industry his whole life.
hey!! I started a new page for all us hopefuls - check that too!!
In the spring, I took an Intro to A&P class which helped me prepare for the HESI. I decided to take the HESI in June, not expecting to do so well. But I wanted to give myself enough time to take it again, in case I didnt pass. The pocket prep app was extremely helpful!!
I think thats great that your boyfriend is interested in doing Nursing as well! I think its an awesome career choice for both of you! And you can help each other!
But find the other group I started and there are a lot of helpful people on there too :)

Hola from San Diego!!
YAY! I dont know why I am just seeing this, thought I was looking for it before and didnt see a page started for FALL 2018. Anyways, I am super excited.
I took English 101, and also got an A, and right now am in A&P1. I plan on taking my HESI in November. Was hoping to get some A&P knowledge under my belt before attempting the HESI. Oh, and math refresher.
A&P and HESI are making me nervous...It has been awhile since the last post, how is everything going for everyone?
San Diego? How cool! When are you heading to Houston?
Things are lining up great with me! I am in A&P 1, and have made a 96 and 89 on the first 2 lecture tests and an 89 on the first Lab Practical. Bones are what we are working on now!
I went to one of the Nursing meet ups during the summer & got a lot of information... exciting! I am planning on taking HESI in January so I have all of break to study & will be well taught from A&P 1. Though I may see how I feel before then and take it earlier. I downloaded the pocket prep App awhile back & it's been really helpful.
Must admit, San Diego IS awesome :) Actually will be in Houston mid-December.
Really do wish I could make one of the orientations, but unfortunately dates dont match up for when I am there.
On your recommendation, I just downloaded the pocket prep. A lot of positive reviews, so I hope it helps. Good luck with your A&P class. We have only a mid-term, and a final, with a few small quizzes inbetween, so I am a little, hmmm, we shall see. Working my bum off, so hopefully the hard work will pay off.
Let me know when you actually decide to take the HESI. Are you going to be taking it on campus?
My A&P 1 class is going pretty good. I'm averaging an A so far. Really hoping I can keep it up for the rest of the semester! Just tried to enroll in A&P 2 and Medical Micro for the Spring and it wouldn't let me. I don't have a hold or anything on my account, just says prereqs not met. Well duh, I'm in A&P 1 right now! I'll have to go to the school in the morning & see what's wrong. Hopefully I can get classes before all the good Professors are taken
Honestly haven't even thought about the HESI test because I've been so focused on A&P 1 and Psych. I'll have to start looking at dates and figuring out a study plan.

Hey! I just made a post to start and then I find this one! So I'm reapplying due to failing my 1st semester. I was in at Montgomery campus and am wondering if I should re do ADN or do LVN.
If your goal is to be an RN BSN one day then I'd say try again for ADN!
What went wrong with your first semester?
I made an A in A&P 1 and Psychology! Woohoo!!
My HESI review book came in the mail the other day, so I'll be studying soon.

Do you have to retake the HESI?
