Lone Star Fall 2018 ADN and LVN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone!!

This is my first post, and I'm just wanting some more information and feedback from others on track to apply for the Fall 2018 ADN program.

I have already taken English 1301 in the past and made an A. I am enrolled in an A&P 1 night class for this Fall, and plan on taking A&P 2, Medical Micro, and Pharm during the Spring and Summer of 2018.

I have already had my Bacterial Meningitis shot from when I went to HCC, but I'm not sure where to get "proof" of it for my application since I got it at a Walgreens with no insurance. But I transferred just fine back to Lone Star, so maybe they have a copy? Or I could ask HCC?

I have not taken HESI yet, or started studying, but I definitely feel like I should start buying study books and whatnot before Summer is over that way I can have time to retest if needed.

Getting CPR certified is on my to-do list.

As for all other Pre-Admission Requirements, I will be attending the next Montgomery campus information session to help me figure out everything else.

Anybody have any other information on vaccines, FERPA, TSI, or anything else? Also, does everyone have to get a Criminal Background check or only people with a criminal history? The website is unclear. I also see that it says you have to show proof of insurance "and/or" pass a drug screen. So is insurance mandatory or not?

Thanks in advance for joining he conversation!

Hello all I am applying for the fall 2018 ADN program. All prerequisites taken 4.0 gpa hesi 83.6% and critical thinking 920. Hope these scores will get my foot in the door.

So around a 7.3, that sounds like a good score! I am in the process of studying for the HESI test.

Hey everyone,

I plan on applying for the ADN program in the fall. I had to retake AP 1, AP 2, English, and Pharmacology over the summer and fall. I received an A in all classes. It had been 9 years since I took the classes the first time. I took the hesi back in September and got a 72% in A&P. I was so upset, I didn't even finish the other sections on the exam lol. So I blew my chances for Spring 2018. I took the hesi again today and my overall was a 90.8! I was so happy! If anyone has any questions, feel free.

@RayNicole That's a really good score. What campus do you plan on applying to?

@ale_tho TBH I have no idea lol. What about you?

I want to be close to the campus. So, I'd probably choose Montgomery and Tomball because they are about the same distance from my house. But of course I will go wherever they accept me.

Hi Ladies! I will be applying for the Fall semester ADN. My first choice will be Montgomery but I am going to apply to all of them just in case lol I have a 7.44 on the point system so I am hoping it gets me into Montgomery cause I really do not want to have to fight traffic to get to the other campuses.

Does anyone know the hours for North Harris ADN program? Trying to figure this out, as far as childcare is concerned...also I'll be applying for Montgomery too, so if anyone has the hours of that program. Thank you!

I believe they have a ymca that their partnered with to provide options for childcare. This link has more info Child Care

I'm going Tuesday to start my accelerated Hep B shots. I'll let everyone know how it goes for anyone who still hasn't done theirs yet either.

@Raynicole I will be retaking my Hesi on February 19th. Do you have any advice or what you used to study to do so well the 2nd time?

@tkyoung tbh I watched videos on YouTube, specifically AnatomyGMC. She went over all the systems in great detail. Then I purchased the A&P portion of Readyforthehesi. There were exact questions on the hesi test that came from

this guide! That's how I prepared for AP and ended up with a 92% on that portion. Everything else, I reviewed the Hesi review book, used quizlet, and the pocket prep app.
