LONE STAR college LVN program please help

U.S.A. Texas

Hi, I am applying to the LVN program in May at Lone Star Montgomery. I has taken my HESI and score a 96 in math and an 80.43 in reading, those are the only 2 subjects required. The point scale is 8 being the highest. 4 points come from AP which I have a B, so I get 3 points, and the other points are your combined HESI score divided by 50, which means I get 3.5286 exact! So my overall score is a 6.5286 or 6.53. Do you think this is high enough to get in? I would like to hear from past students who have applied and were excepted. thank you so much for all your help.

If you read on one of my other posts, a member told me the letter where sent out last friday. so we should be receiving letter any day now. I believe there are 24 spots in the LVN program at lsc-montgomery.

did you apply this year? what did you points add up to?

yes, i did apply. 24 spots? doesn't seem like enough. can't remember what my score was. i gotta look it up.

I applied for the LVN program at cyfair and i think tomball. i got an score of 7.45 something the program start late aug.. so I wont get a letter until the end of june.... i just wanted to know about the past students if this score is good enough to get in????

Just gave up my LVN spot at montgomery today since i got into an RN program, so that frees one up for someone else!!!

Ya, well I got my denial letter weeks ago, how do you know if you were an alternate for the LVN program? would my letter have said so?

Thanks Hershey Kissy .I took my Hesi Monday and I wrote my math conversions down before I started also.It helped alot .The Reading was nothing like the study guide.I made a 86 on the math and a 80.85 on the Reading.I know I can do better on the math so i might retake it in August.

Hi everybody, i have not started the lvn program yet but i am really looking into it and so far im liking what im seeing. I just have a question for everyone who has got into the program...would it be a good idea to have a full time job and do about one class at a time once i get into the program??? plzzzzzzzzzzz help!!!!!!!

Dang I wrote a LONG reply...and it dissappeared!

Anyway....

cyfair is super competitive. Accepted 25 I think, there are 22 left. We were told almost 400 applied (but can't say how true or untrue that is..but is along w/ what I've heard in the past ).

It's super challenging. You have to understand that school has to be your focus 110% of the time. I've heard of a few people working....but none that I'm aware of work full time. I can't imagine how that can be done. Honestly the school stuff takes WAY too much time and energy to work full time too.

Even part time is ridiculously hard when your trying to balance a family and school.

As for taking the program one class at a time. I know that for cyfair at least that is NOT an option. You sign a blank registration form and they literally go register the classes you are expected to take that semester. There is no, well I'll take it during mini mester, or maybe online....uhhh uhhh. You take what your told; when your told.

Not to be mean but that's just not a realistic plan. If you are planning on applying you need to make sure that you have your ducks in a row so that you can actually attend, otherwise you've taken a much coveted spot of someone else who maybe IS ready and able to do whatever it takes and whatever they are asked. No it isn't easy, but you just have to make it work. Honestly they don't care that you have kids at home, a job..or anything else. Their only concern is that you understanding the material and your thinking is converting to critical thinking.

If you can't give 100% you should not apply. I have kids...I know the struggle involved with going to nursing school but bottom line is that my family will benefit from my success. This is only a year. ONE year. You take all the support your offered and delegate what you need to and you'll be okay.

Honestly I can say that it's hard to stay on top of everything. The first week of Dec. I have FOUR tests over a 2 day period and then finals in EVERY CLASS the following week. That's just the way it is. Prioritizing is essential to your success.

speaking of which...I'm off to study....getting ready for Dec... ;)

Hi guys! Graduated from LSC Montgomery LVN program. The teachers are awesome, you will get tired through the program, but study, and don't give up. The teachers are extremely helpful and if you really want it it will be just a breeze. Highly recommend this campus and program!!!

Hello everyone! I know this is an old post but I'm looking for some info from anyone who may have or have not gotten into the LVN program @ Lone Star. I'm applying for the upcoming program and got 7.81 on my entrance score sheet?

Does anyone have any feedback on scores and what may or may not get you in?

I also had 3 letters of recc. from professors!

My nerves are shot with anticipation! :uhoh3:

CaseyT what campus are you applying too? I will be applying to the Tomball campus next month. Your overall score seems great.
