2018 Lone Star ADN Hopefuls - Spring

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hey there!

I wanted to start this page for anyone who is applying for the Spring 2018 Lone Star ADN or LVN program! I've seen previous posts, from previous years, and everyone was really helpful and encouraging to one another.

I am taking A&P 1 over the summer (starts 7/13) and then I will be submitting my application!! Im so nervous. I already took the HESI and got a score on 90.8%, which gives me and 3.6 on the point scale. I have an A in Eng 1301 and hope to get an A in A&P this summer.

In the fall I am taking A&P2 along with Micro (ugh). So if anyone else is in the same boat, let me know!!!

Anyway, I look forward to hearing from everyone 2MzmrmldDUluFszY4BeNRUhFw8YnK8nLzkBNSYABAA==

My HESI scores:

Overall - 90.8%

Grammar: 94

Math: 94

Reading: 90

Vocab: 88

A&P: 88

Critical Thinking: 890

Gives me a 3.6

Eng 1301 - A

A&P 1 - taking this summer...AHHHH

Hi everyone! I am also applying for ADN at Kingwood. I got A's in both API & ENGL 1301, but my HESI was an 84.4 I believe, so I'm sitting at a 7.376. I hope that it will be worthy enough? My advisor in so many words, told me to hold still with the score and that this past application period that the lowest they took at Kingwood for the Top 80 was a 7.1.

I've done my titers and immunizations and the fast track Hep B, but I did not have immunity for Hep B, so I'm going this week for a booster.

Heather, where are you taking AP 1 this summer? I got a C the first attempt and retook it last summer and got the A finally. So frustrating! Also, thanks for redirecting me!

Good luck everyone!

Oh yea I was going to mention that I thought that the ADN is 4 semesters, but you had an option of finishing in August if you attended Summer classes, instead of graduating in December. At least that is what I thought I heard? Not entirely sure!

Where is everyone applying? I'm only applying at Kingwood since I live here.

Hey Liz! Glad you found this group! I am taking A&P at the CyFair campus. I have professor Erik Hoyer, and when I looked him up, he had really good reviews. Im just concerned that itll be too fast (since its a summer class) but we'll see.

Oh, and I am only applying at CyFair cause I live out in Katy and that is the closest campus for me.

Yea, the summer AP course is a bit fast-paced, but I know you'll be working extra hard for it!

I've read and heard that taking 2 Science courses at once can be difficult. I was taking AP 2 & Micro last semester, I did start to struggle, so I dropped Micro and signed up again for the Fall. All I know is Micro is the hardest course, by far, that I've taken. I wish you lots of luck!!

Hi everyone!

I will be applying to all campuses (besides Kingwood) for the Fall 2018 ADN program, along with the Fall LVN programs at Montgomery and CyFair. Montgomery is my first choice, but I'll take any school as long as I don't have to wait until 2019 to start lol.

I already have an A in English and an A in Art Appreciation, and I'm signed up to take an 8 week online Psych class and an A&P 1 night class at Montgomery this coming Fall semester. I plan to take Micro, A&P2, and Pharm next Spring/Summer.

I haven't taken the HESI yet (any study tips??), am waiting a little longer before I get CPR certified, and need to get going soon on all the vaccinations.

@heatherbrowntx Hi Heather, I just applied to Lonestar Cyfair today. I will also be taking AP2 this Fall. Good luck on AP1, it is a lot of material, and you pretty much will have to study every day if you want an A. It is doable though. Now the waiting game begins for me since we won't know if we got accepted until late September.

Hi Melanie, you don't need APII to apply, so my suggestion is to only focus on making an A in English. My friend just took it this summer and said it is a lot of work! Good luck!

Lone Star uses the higher grade of either A&P I or II. If I keep the B I already have in A&P I, the C I have in A&P II, and then get an A in Engl my score score will go from 6.3 to 6.8 which is still not high enough to get accepted. But if I retake A&P II and Engl and receive an A in both, my score will be 7.3; which is way more competitive!

hi everyone i just checked now my score in the application i have 7.04 (AP2 A, Engl B, HESI 86.8) my question is should i retake english this summer to have an A and then my score will be 7.47, or just keep the 7.04 and apply??? thanks

what is your score ?
