Hey there!
I wanted to start this page for anyone who is applying for the Spring 2018 Lone Star ADN or LVN program! I've seen previous posts, from previous years, and everyone was really helpful and encouraging to one another.
I am taking A&P 1 over the summer (starts 7/13) and then I will be submitting my application!! Im so nervous. I already took the HESI and got a score on 90.8%, which gives me and 3.6 on the point scale. I have an A in Eng 1301 and hope to get an A in A&P this summer.
In the fall I am taking A&P2 along with Micro (ugh). So if anyone else is in the same boat, let me know!!!
Anyway, I look forward to hearing from everyone
Hey everyone! I'm also applying for spring 2018. I'm currently in Micro and I have taken all other core classes for the program. I have A's in my English and A&P, but an overall 87.2 for my HESI. I hope this is enough to get in because I don't want to retake my HESI.
Your stats are awesome, you should have no problem getting accepted into the program!
Hi FutureRNmelanie I saw u had completed all the checklist can u plz tell me what can I do from that checklist while applying, I have completed the hep B shots and waiting for the titer
You can also get the titers for Varicella, MMR, and Tdap. Also obtain your CPR certification if you have not already done that. You'll also need a TB skin test; those are only good for 90 days so I would get that closer to the app deadline. Other than that, you'll need your TBON blue card that you receive after your background check and the forms that they'll require you to fill out.
How do I get that TBON blue card? And all what u said is post admission right meaning after u get accepted? And I heard that there is fingerprints and social security verification? Can u explain more plz
You're correct; all of the requirements should be completed once you're accepted or selected as an alternate candidate. Once selected for acceptance or alternate; the school will email you a code to input into a website called CastleBranch. You will then set up a CB account to input all of your immunizations, required docs, cpr card, and TBON blue card. CB will also be the ones who initiate your SSN verification. There is a fee for the SSN verification and a fee for them to verify the immunizations, etc that you upload to their website. The school is going to send a roster of all the accepted and alternate students to TBON; if TBON does not already have you in their system (from previously applying to a nursing program) they will email you a fingerprint pass to get your background check done. After your background check is completed, you will receive the blue card in the mail within 2-3 weeks if your background is clear. At the mandatory nursing school orientation, they will conduct a drug test and tell you more about what to expect from the program. I hope this helps!
I know that on the website it says this is a two year program, but is it possible to take the classes during summer semesters as well? Or is it strictly during fall and spring semesters that the ADN classes are offered?
I believe the ADN program only offers classes in the Spring and Fall semesters which is why it takes 2 years.
Hey Everyone!! Glad to see all these discussions!!
When I talked to my advisor, she informed me that the ADN program doesn't break for summer. It goes straight through, so it ends up being 18 months. I could be wrong, but that's what I was told.
My last step in the pre-application period is A&P 1 this summer. The professor I have has amazing reviews, so I am hoping I can get an A. Pretty nervous about it.
