LIU Brooklyn Fall 2020

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi! I looked for a topic on students who applied for/ were accepted into LIU Brooklyn starting fall of 2020 and couldn't find anything. I applied about a month ago and I just wanted to start a thread so we can all chat about it!

Oh WOW! congratulations!! Now you don't have to attend the virtual session! Best of luck.

Soooo, I just spoke to some people from the school. Basically so far I'm partially admitted, but through the honors college they're having me do a one on one with a transfer counselor. I have to set that up so I highly doubt that will be happening before the info session LOL .

You never know everything is virtual now so there is really no excuse. They should do it sooner than later so you can prepare for the up coming semester.

How long ago did you apply?

I submitted my app late January but there were some misplacings and they needed another transcript so everything was updated by March. What about you?

I applied in mid march so I guess I should be patient LOL. Waiting on reference letters held up my process. So now its just a waiting game.

I just got the acceptance email tonight.

I'm trying to look up transfer evaluations, financial aid options and I really can't find a thing.

I plan on attending the virtual sesion on the 17th see if that straightens out some of my questions.

Same here! Can't see any financial aid, etc. I'm gonna call the financial aid office tomorrow so I can get a start on things. Congratulations!!

I've got accepted to LIU Broolyn, SJU Broolyn, and SUNY Delhi. I'm planning on going to SUNY Delhi. LIU was my third choice but I went up to the school to talk the students and they said the school takes anybody because honestly the tuition is heavy . Therefore , communication for getting clinical site , picking classes and etc is destructive. Some semester students don't get clinical sites and have to do it during the Winter or Summer or they'll just do stimulation lab. In all honestly if I'm paying that much money for tuition I deserve a good education.

That's the vibe I keep on getting every time I look into LIU at the moment. I've settled on just waiting to see if they offer a merit based scholarship + whatever financial aid they offer if it's comparable to just doing a semester in a public CUNY school to applying again to the major Public schools in the state.

I do want an education, I don't necessarily want to take out a mortgage to finance it

They have scholarship base on your GPA . I think once you have a 3.7 GPA you get the max scholarship , which I think is like $5000. However, isn't really sufficient to a $35000 tuition per year. Look at St joseph brooklyn Nursing . They offered me $10,000 scholarship and there tuition is @21,000 per year. Also BMCC is not going base on entrance exams this semester . They're going base on GPA. Also Private school Nursing school are less rigorous compared to two years .So, put that into consideration .

I got accepted into the generic program for the Fall semester even though I applied to the accelerated. Some of the admissions counselors have told me that I can transfer to the accelerated after the first semester at LIU in the generic program and get re-evaluated. I’m just wondering if it’s true or if they’re just saying this so that I pick their program. I tried to find threads on it but I couldn’t find any helpful info. Let me know if anyone can help me.

Hello, I was just accepted on the 16 th . I sent in deposit and reached out to counselor on Monday. Waiting to hear about next step. Looking forward to meeting you all.
