LIU brooklyn fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for LIU brooklyn BSN students of FALL 18. I will be starting my nursing/clinical phase in September 18 and I was admitted as a transfer student. Is anyone starting around the same time? Also, if you're a current student, is there any helpful feedback or advice you can provide for new students? How is the clinical experience? Professors? School in general? etc.

Thank you and hopefully we'll get to meet in school! :cat:

Yes, August 29th is orientation. I was told for the first semester that you still need to (at least) buy the uniform from a particular supplier and that the other things can wait until later.

I'm transferring from NCC (took prereqs there) but I have a BA from another school

Did you happen to do any of the Background tests or HIPAA/OSHA certifications on Castlebranch? On LIU's website it says the deadline is Sept 1st for all of those to be submitted but I'm not sure if we have to do it since we're not starting clinicals.

Yes I actually did it already including my medical stuff and CPR certification this month because I wanted to get it over with. I didn't even know that we won't be having clinicals this semester which sucks, I was excited for that part :/. When I registered for classes the advisor was in a rush so I didn't get much info out of her.

I'm taking the same classes. The advisor said there is no clinical this semester. I guess we start next semester. Also, apparently an email about the orientation should be sent out soon.

I see. That's weird so would that mean we will be behind on a clinical or they will squeeze them together later on? I guess that's a good question for me to ask the school.

Yeah I called and asked the same thing but they just told me they would put the new curriculum online soon, not sure how soon that will be tho. If you call and find out let us know!

I didn't do any of the Castlebranch stuff yet. Just saw the cost $$$ :-\

Yeah same it's around $200 and I believe the uniforms are not included plus you have to pay for the CPR class as well.

Hi:

I'm starting in the fall as well; I'm going part time. I haven't heard anything specific about the program except that when I went to register, there won't be any clinicals. I'm registered for Contemporary Topics of Nursing; Pathophys and Pharm. Anyone else in the part time evening program?

Hi Lise66,

I'm actually part time but registered for full time classes. I have the same classes (some days/some evening) but recently added Informatics. I'm gonna need A LOT of prayer :-)

@Shawnieshaw: thanks for the response; I'm already freaking out about taking Patho and Pharm at the same time, although I took med calculations @ BMCC but LIU didn't transfer it over because it wasn't part of a Pharm class, it was a stand alone medical math class. Good luck with the additional classes; I send you positive vibes to succeed!! ;)
