LIU brooklyn fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for LIU brooklyn BSN students of FALL 18. I will be starting my nursing/clinical phase in September 18 and I was admitted as a transfer student. Is anyone starting around the same time? Also, if you're a current student, is there any helpful feedback or advice you can provide for new students? How is the clinical experience? Professors? School in general? etc.

Thank you and hopefully we'll get to meet in school! :cat:

Hi Angela thank you for responding! I'm really glad you had a great experience your first semester! I'm an out of state student actually so going to campus to get stuff done is a bit more difficult for me. Are you a local and commuting to campus? I'm actually quite nervous about moving to NY, just navigating the city and all especially when it comes to clinicals.

Yes I commute to school but it's not bad. We have trains everywhere and the train station is right across the street from school so no worries. You'll adjust in no time!

Has anyone made it into the program with a C+ in chemistry?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about starting nursing program at either LIU or Molloy college. I was wondering if you guys could help me decide between these 2 programs. I would really appreciate if you guys could tell me how you like the program so far?

Hello:

I am currently in the third level of the LIU Brooklyn Accelerated nursing program. I love the program so far and I believe it has prepared me to pass the NCLEX especially with the fact the school uses the ATI for NCLEX practice throughout the semester. My only complaint is that I wish the labs were more hands on for more real world practice. I have heard this is the case at a lot of schools so I’m not too worried.

I hope this helps you to decide. Good luck!

Thank you so much for responding @BankerturnnurseYour comment made me hopeful. I heard a lot of bad reviews about the professors that's why I was hesitating to commit to LIU. How are the professors if you don't mind me asking? Also how hard is the program considering it's an accelerated program? and would it be possible to work just once a week while being in the program?

Hello:

This is not my first degree and with that being said a lot of programs have good professors and not so good ones. It all boils down to you. I think so far I have had one professor that wasn’t too great and it was more her style of teaching and the fact that it was content heavy (pharmacology). A lot of students in my Accelerated cohort work on the weekends. I would not recommend it the first semester if you are thinking about the Accelerated program unless it’s a very flexible job especially during exam periods. Full time and part cohort students I have noticed can manage to work full time and go to school.

hey guys I got accepted fall 2020 and their administration doesnt want to get in touch with me, can anyone tell me how they paid their tuition ? I have never taken out a loan don't know anything about the next steps, I made my schedule and everything, im extremely scared about how the program and the professors are if anyone is willing to explain their experience it would be very helpful

You have to apply for FAFSA first. Then they will give you a government loan which will show up on your LIU account as a subsidized and unsubsidized loan. You will only be able to accept the loan after you complete an entrance counseling on this website https://studentaid.gov/app/counselingInstructions.action?counselingType=entrance

hello everyone, im just in this thread assuming you all took funds, I really want to know who teaches it thats all because right now I cant see who the professors are. if anyone knows every professor that teaches it besides the head of the department please let me know like I just want to know all of the professors that teach lecture in that department
