Has anyone else here been accepted into the ABSN at LIU Brooklyn for 2020? I was accepted but I’m having a difficult time figuring out my next steps because I wasn’t sent a welcome packet. Anyone having a similar experience?

@KhalidaK thanks Khalida! how are you liking the program? Are the professors helpful? Are the exams hard? What are you guys doing for clinicals?

I honestly love the program and the professors. They are definitely helpful. I don’t think it’s as bad as I anticipated but prepare to have no social life whatsoever. Clinicals have been stimulations online but they have found some spots for us in the next semester. This isn’t the best time for nursing school ?

also, I would call or email admissions and ask if you can get into the traditional program with your letter grade. If you can, once you’re in you can pretty much transfer into the accelerated after a semester without a problem. Don’t get frustrated if you call and don’t hear back, they are working out what to do with returning classes to in person right now and nobody really is answering anyoneeeee

Hey all. I am beginning my first semester as a nursing student in February. I just wanted to know if there are any PDFs out there of the textbooks for Informatics, Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, Health Assessment, and Contemporary topics, or if the textbooks are even helpful for the course at all. There are a lot of textbooks and access codes required and it is going to be super expensive. Just trying to find the cheapest options for myself. Thanks!

Most of the textbooks in the first semester wasn't needed. For informatics and contemporary don't even bother buying the book. You will not use it at all. For pharmacology, my professor gave us the PDF versions of the books for both lecture and lab (It also wasn't needed). For patho, it wasn't needed at all.

The only book that was needed was Health Assessment. I was very useful for both lab and lecture. Also you need an access code for this class so I'm not sure which option would be cheaper.

All of the books I rented from amazon for a cheap price and I bought the access code separately.

Hi! Can anyone tell me if I can apply to the LIU ABSN program without completing the prereqs? I am looking to start in the Spring 2022 semester and will have the prereqs done by then, however I am not sure if I can start the application process without having completed them.

Yes you can absolutely apply without them all completed. They will reach out and ask if you're taking them and give you a decision without them completed.

Exactly what the other user said. I suggest only buying health assessment (an older edition). The rest of the books were not used at all.

I’m interested in applying for LIU’s accelerated nursing program and I was wondering if anyone knows if Microbiology lab is part of the pre req? Or just the lecture portion? Thank you in advance!

Hello everyone, this is my first time applying to ABSN programs and so this is my first post on this forum. I had some questions regarding the application process for the LIU ABSN program. Please bear with me and I would appreciate any guidance provided. I had emailed these questions to admissions at LIU but I figured I will put out these questions here as well.

1. I have attended multiple colleges but received my bachelor's degree from one of them only. In the GPA section, do I input the GPA that I received from the college I obtained my bachelor's degree or do I have to calculate a cumulative GPA? If I need to provide a cumulative GPA, how do I calculate that?

2. How many letters of recommendations do I need to provide? Do I upload all transcripts from all the institutions that I have attended or only the one where I received the bachelor's degree from?

3. Having been through college, do I need to take ACT and SAT again?

4. Is the personal statement a requirement? Has anyone submitted the application without writing a personal statement? Since the topic for the statement is open ended, what is the preferred topic to write about?

Thank you everyone for your time and consideration.
