I did a few and they were great. You need to keep on top of it...don't let things slide until the last minute just because you have more flexibility with time.

I've taken quite a few online courses while working on my pre-reqs for nursing school.
Lots more work than traditional classes, but I feel I learned more as well. :)

I also tend to like online classes. There have been times when certain things aren't presented as clearly as they would be in class, but the teachers have been open to answering questions through e-mail. I especially like the fact that there isn't a specific time to be at class so I can work the assignments around other responsibilities and errands that come up.

I don't know if another affirmation will help, but I did my first post-grad qualification (though not in nursing) online and it was great. They provided all the material, so there was no spending hours in the library or schlepping off to class for an hour twice a week. It was before I was online, so the net support was minimal, but the few times I needed help the coordinator was wonderful. I think it's an ideal way for motivated RNs to study because of the flexibility, but as other posters have cautioned, it's easy to let the assessments slide :)

Actually, I am taking a break from my online Pathophysiology coursework to surf the net and alas I find the question about online courses. I am in an RN/BSN program with online classes...and I really like them. Right now I am so overwhelmed with this semester and it just started this week. Patho is difficult anyway....Good luck to you!

my entire MSN degree curriculum is online and I love it. More flexible. However, you really have to be self-motivated in order to get things done on time! But this method allows adults to work while learning and set their own schedule. Works for me.

Online courses are a wonderful thing. I have been taking some for the last 2 semesters and it has allowed me alot of extra time with my son. I could go to class at midnight if i wanted. I really enjoyed it.:)
