LifePoint Duke Hospitals-Anyone work for one?

Published

I typed LifePoint into the search bar and found several mentions but they're all years old.

I was looking to change jobs to be closer to home. Recently, it was announced that that hospital is being bought by Duke LifePoint. From everything I've read, LifePoint doesn't exactly have a good reputation. I'm looking for opinions from people who have currently or recently worked at a LifePoint hospital.

Thanks in advance!

OMG I worked at one of their Wyoming facilities. It was awful. Their mission is to capitalize on rural facilities where there is no competition. Patients who don't have the option of going anywhere else ( and to an extent neither do nurses - that is why I ended up there). In theory I guess it is a good business plan on their end. Why on earth should there be working BP cuffs or IV pumps? Shame on those nurses for expecting such a thing!

I would say look for something else. It is all about the money, but the money won't be for you. Hospitals that offer large sign on bonuses do so because its a last ditch effort. I know from experience.

There are two near me. I worked at one before it was bailed out by Lifepoint. Both were small community hospitals, rural, that they only way they could continue to operate was to get bailed out, financially, by a bigger group. I am in NC, so some have been "helped" by Duke, some by UNC. The reason they got into trouble financially is the reason they are still in trouble.

The ones here are ok. I have friends that have stayed. part of the problem is that they maintain management so nothing really changes.
