Licensure in VT or CA?

Arial Black4 I'm puzzled If I will take the NCLEX in Vermont or Cali?? coz most of the nurses here in the Philippines advised me to apply in Vermont because the processing is much more shorter compared to Cali? :scrying: please I need your help to make up my mind to which state will I apply.... i used to live in chicago before moving here in vermont. chi-town is just a big city for me to live in. so i decided to come to vermont.. ask me why vt? i dont know. i got no friends or relatives here. my first impression in vt is that the place is very very very clean! vermonters are soooo friendly. we have one of lowest crime rate across the country. the pay is decent for me, having worked 10+ yrs as an RN. the 4 seasons are absolutely gorgeous! we have the best fall foliage where actually tourists from around the world come to see the fall here. we have a ton of ski resorts and summer is absolutely wonderful to go biking, go to lake and swim, etc... the downside, be ready for very long and very cold winter nights. snow starts dropping right before thanksgiving or late october and ends late march or early april. the real estate can be expensive, that if you choose to buy houses in burlington.. raising a family here is no doubt the best part in the east. i cant say much because i dont have my own family but i see them through my co-workers. and the best part of it is, the state loves diversity. they welcome immigrants (mainly because vermont has the most white people 96%, percentage wise).

i work in the operating room www.fahc.org . my co-workers are awesome. we are like family but we are very professional and serious when we handle our cases. you and your family would love to live in vermont. i'd love to show you around when you guys are here already.

Hello again Atlas18!... i really appreciate that you took time to reply and let me imagine how beautiful and peaceful vermont just by imagining from your story!... i really wanted a very nice place for me and my family because i dont want to apply for licensure in vermont then do endorsement afterwards... phillipines is a tropical country and summer here can be very very hot!:angryfire i am looking forward to experience SNOW when we get there... hope the soonest possible! ... also, i want to ask if you know or heared anything about vermont hospitals sponsoring foreign nurses?... if a nurse is being sponsored by a hospital abroad will that make the nurse go to that place sooner or still be affected by retrogression?... again, thank you for taking time to reply! You need to be using the word petition not sponsor. No matter you will be affected by retrogression and looking at a few years before moving. Although that is no longer a guarantee of passing licensure and having an employer of getting a GC.

thanks for the reply.. :) so you have applied in vermont, is it true that the processing time in vermont is much faster than cali? im also considering an application in cali.. i really cant decide.. in the apllication form in vermont, theres a part where you have to place your license number.. i still havent register in prc, my schedule will be on the last day of oct.. do i have to wait for the registration before i can apply? thank you for the reply..

when i push through with my application, i already have my license. but i heard some people that you just have to ask tell them the reason why you didnt put any copy of your license.tell them if its ok if its will be send as soon the PRC will hand them to you.

Im part of the June 2006 and i surrendered my license. I told them honestly that the license i previously sent to them was surrendered to the PRC but goog thing I passed the exam here in the philippines. They just told me to send the new license that will be issued to me..

Or if you are not that hurry, u can just wait for ur license.

thanks for the reply! do you know the nclex application center? im planning to avail their services to assist me in my application because i have know idea on what to do.. i went there earlier and they said that i can already pass my application form even without the license yet.. i will just tell the vt bon that my license will be sent to follow.. i guess that can also work.. i just hope i can get my license as soon as possible.. thanks again for your reply and i hope things will go well for you!

What do you mean by NCLEX application centre? You have to apply to apply to BON and follow requirements for foreign nurse, nothing hard about that.

hi! i nid help guys..i got confused while answeringthe application form in vermont..bwt rgarding child support on quest#4 it says.."i am in good standing w/ respect toor in fullcompliance w/ a plan to pay any &all unemployment contributions due to state of vermont-my answer is YES but it says below that if answrd YES proceed to complete the renewal.If nou must contact the office..gotconfused what's that renewal thing..pls rep pm me..

if you have working experience back in philippines, then i would put it. if i remembered it right, i include mine 4-5yrs ago. my work experience back in P.I. was recognized by my hospital where i currently work. good luck to you. i hope you decide to work here in VT. theres only about 3-4 filipinos i know here in the hospital i worked.

You do not owe any taxes or back child support in the state of VT since you have never been there, just answer accordingly.

You can complete the application if you answer yes, but if you would answer no, then you would need to contact the office there.

You are not renewing but applying for initial licensure.

VT license is only good for two years, same as most other states. They will not renew your license without a SSN#.

It will become inactive if you do not renew it or are unable to renew it by the time that is expires. When you do get a SSN#, you will just need to submit it to them and submit the payment to them to get it renewed.

i just want to inquire something, i sent my application to vermont for my NCLEX exam that was about 7 months ago and yet till now i didnt recieve any package coming from them. Where shall i follow up for this matter? Any idea from anybody pls help.

hi! try to visit their website http://www.vtprofessionals.org/opr1/nurses/.. they will place your name there if they have received the application you sent them..
