Licensure requirements in Oregon

Hi ! Our family will migrate to US this March 2009 bec. of my hubby's job. I am a nurse in profession and I want to know what are the procedures in acquiring license to work in Oregon. I am also searching an apartment where we can live. My husband will be working somewhere in NE Portland , Oregon. Anybody can recommend me for a site to search or a person to contact?

That's why I mentioned that she should look at local laws. In some states you don't have to declare the income as a business under certain dollar amounts and certain types of services/products.

There are some creative ways that Immigrants have been able to earn an income to survive in the USA while waiting for visas and none of it has been illegal. I do not want to provide examples because they may NOT be legal to do in other parts of the country for someone who does not yet have a working visa.

But you still have the issue of working when your visa doesn't allow you to work which I think is a good way to get into big trouble results in being sent home

Just because someone has done something creative, it is still considered illegal and they are subject to being deported if caught. And that means not being able to return to the US for years. And everything can be taken away.

If there visa is one of a dependent and they are not permitted to work, doing anything can be misconstrued as working, whether one creates their own job or not, and makes them subject to the rules and regulations here.

And we are seeing ICE pick up people for this very reason now.
