Hello.
I keep getting turned down for every job I applied for, including an interview I had with Duke. I'm hoping that if I apply for licensure it will show them I am serious about NC.
I have a couple of questions regarding licensure by endorsement for an out of state individual. Any guidance or advice on where to find this information would be helpful. I have tried the NCBON website but its not super clear on the details IMO.
-How does livescan work? Do I have to be a current NC resident with an NC address or can I just do it in my state?
-If I can't do livescan out of state how long does it yak to receive a fingerprint card and then how long does it take to get the card processed?
-Do I just use my out of state address when applying for licensure and update when I get there? Would this mean I go from non compact licensure to compact licensure because I would then be a NC resident?
-Do I need to be in NC before applying for endorsement for any reason?
-Does the actual application give details about how to send transcripts from my school of nursing? I haven't started the application because you can't save your progress so I haven seen the actual online application yet.
-Do you pay the $150 application for endorsement fee and then wait to pay for fingerprinting or do they roll that into one fee with their application?
-Do they charge for the fingerprint card or would the Sheriffs office charge to finger print me and send it off?
Any help would e greatly appreciated. I'm having trouble getting a hold of the NCBON because I work PT Monday - Friday and they are often closed by the time I can get to the phone to call. Hopefully next week I will have a day off to call as well.

I took my NCLEX in Louisiana because I wasn't 100% sure I would be offered a position and I needed to schedule it. So I took it in LA, got licensed, then applied for endorsement. I filled out all of the required info online, had to do the license verification and pay for that(the NCBON details what to do), I received my fingerprint packet in the mail within about 5-7 days of doing the online application, took it to the place, paid 12$ I think it was per card to get fingerprinted, mailed that off, and within 2 weeks, I had my NC license in the mail. It was all very fast! I also came from a non compact state. If you have any questions, I wouldn't hesitate to call the NCBON to help walk you through what you need to do. Oh and I was in Louisiana when I applied and didn't move to NC until about 3 weeks later, and just changed my address through the NCBON once we knew where we were moving. And all the fees are separate(or were for me since I had already taken the NCLEX).

Okay cool. Glad to hear its a quick process even with the finger print cards. Guess I will try to apply this week! 🙂

Thank you for posting! :)
I filled out the endorsement application online on Tuesday, Sept 24. Fingerprint packet came on Sept 30th. Completed and mailed back out the same day. Will update when I get my temporary license.
No one seems to answer when I call (due to high call volumes) and I don't get my questions answered via email. Every time I get a generic reply that states the endorsement steps direct from the website.
My question was if they needed me to fax or mail a copy of my current license or if nursys verification is enough.
I faxed a copy and paid for Nursys, so hopefully they will issue my temporary license soon, and then I can show something when applying to jobs in NC!

They have a form for your current state to fill iut
What form needs to be filled out?
If you mean verification, my state participates in Nursys verification.
For states who do not participate in Nursys, then there is an additional form necessary, that's correct.
I came from AZ to NC and had to do both
I was told I don't need to do the form. I guess I will see what happens with my application.
Worst case scenario my application needs additional paperwork I guess.
It was pricy. Nursys NC and AZ all had fees. Good luck
I'm only endorsing from 1 state, so maybe that's why it's easier.
I talked to the NCBON just now and she said I do not need to complete parts 2 and 3 and that Nursys is sufficient and if they get the fingerprints entered before tomorrow, they can issue the license by next week!
The ladies in the office are really helpful at least!
There is a downtime for upgrades to their system until Tuesday at 0800!!!! Now I feel lost without being able to check my application status!
