Licensure by endorsement questions

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello.

I keep getting turned down for every job I applied for, including an interview I had with Duke. I'm hoping that if I apply for licensure it will show them I am serious about NC.

I have a couple of questions regarding licensure by endorsement for an out of state individual. Any guidance or advice on where to find this information would be helpful. I have tried the NCBON website but its not super clear on the details IMO.

-How does livescan work? Do I have to be a current NC resident with an NC address or can I just do it in my state?

-If I can't do livescan out of state how long does it yak to receive a fingerprint card and then how long does it take to get the card processed?

-Do I just use my out of state address when applying for licensure and update when I get there? Would this mean I go from non compact licensure to compact licensure because I would then be a NC resident?

-Do I need to be in NC before applying for endorsement for any reason?

-Does the actual application give details about how to send transcripts from my school of nursing? I haven't started the application because you can't save your progress so I haven seen the actual online application yet.

-Do you pay the $150 application for endorsement fee and then wait to pay for fingerprinting or do they roll that into one fee with their application?

-Do they charge for the fingerprint card or would the Sheriffs office charge to finger print me and send it off?

Any help would e greatly appreciated. I'm having trouble getting a hold of the NCBON because I work PT Monday - Friday and they are often closed by the time I can get to the phone to call. Hopefully next week I will have a day off to call as well.

It was pricy. Nursys NC and AZ all had fees. Good luck

I am endorsing from FL to NC and the Nursys fee was $30

The endorsement application fee was $150 to the NCBON.

The criminal background check for NCBON was $38. (Plus the $1.20 to mail them back)

I don't see it being much more expensive than any other endorsement.

I saw that! Can't wait until Tuesday to check again haha I currently live in NJ and am relocating to NC. When I got my NJ license, I was able to get the number on the boards website before I received the actual license. Does anyone know if this is true for NC as well?

My understanding is that NC is paperless and all licenses are online.

Don't quote me on that, I could be wrong.

Hmmm interesting. All my paperwork has been received so I'm hoping I can add a license number to my applications soon! I hope it's easier to get a job as a new grad than it is in NJ. I just want to start working!

I filled out the endorsement application online on Tuesday, Sept 24. Fingerprint packet came on Sept 30th. Completed and mailed back out the same day. Will update when I get my temporary license.

No one seems to answer when I call (due to high call volumes) and I don't get my questions answered via email. Every time I get a generic reply that states the endorsement steps direct from the website.

My question was if they needed me to fax or mail a copy of my current license or if nursys verification is enough.

I faxed a copy and paid for Nursys, so hopefully they will issue my temporary license soon, and then I can show something when applying to jobs in NC!

Temporary license issued October 10th. Now I have a number to throw on my application!!! :)

Apparently they do not require anything except Nursys and criminal background check for endorsement from Florida. (Can't speak for other states or multiple states)

Got mine too! I just started applying last week when I got it so I'm hoping some good luck is thrown my way! I'm so excited to start working.

Denial of a job or of the license? I just got something in the mail that said my fingerprints weren't clear and I need to resubmit new ones. I have 3 interviews set up but am only really interested in 1! Lol

They can deny you? I didn't know that

You probably need your previous state to send over information. You only get denied if you had previous issues or complaints

I was approved for my permanent NC license.

I was denied for the JOB applications in North Carolina that I had submitted with my NC license # on it. I had hoped that having the number would cast some favor on my résumé but I guess not.

I'm going to keep applying to facilities in both Florida and North Carolina and hope that something pans out. The job offers I had weren't as good as I had hoped, and require too much on call and I'm not comfortable moving to questionable areas with my elderly, ill parents.

The dream job couldn't wait for me to obtain licensure and went with someone else. I'm hoping they find a spot for me soon!!! I need to help take care of my parents. So frustrating!!!!!

Oh man. I'm Sorry =( Are you a new grad? NC has SO many more opportunities for new grads than my home state.
