I was outraged when I found this out a few years ago, compounded by the fact that the hospital wants you to display your first and last name on your badge, let's just invite every mentally insane person to find you and your family! Why is it publicized? Our paramedics information is protected to where you cant get in to the website without a signon/pass word
Hmm..this must vary state to state. My state (MA) only posts my name, license number, date I tested, expiration date & where I went to school. My address is on my actual license that I got in the mail, but I'd be totally freaked out if it was available online!
Florida keeps all their occupational license holders online, ready to access with all information. It is supposed to help consumers with checking that their providers are ok and be able to easily complain about them.
My FL license was up for renewal recently and I let it lapse after many years of keeping it up while I wasn't even in the state. Didn't care to keep having so much info readily available. Because of some of the risks of these jobs putting your info out there - we have taken steps to prevent anyone from accessing our property. But we also live where we can put up fences and controlled access gates. TX also has the "castle law" where you can protect yourself if you are threatened - one of the few laws that TX has that I approve of.

I almost decided to let your complete departure from the original topic of this thread go, but my resentment of your remarks about TX would not let me. I can not tell from your post if you are living in TX or not, but if you are then I hope that you are not as disrespectful in person to the people of TX as you were in your post.
My state is similar, but my address isn't on either of the licenses they sent me. We get a small wallet sized one, and a big one with the state seal on it that you can frame. On those, it has my full legal name and my license number. That's it.Hmm..this must vary state to state. I also don't like this idea of putting nurses' addresses on the licensing website. Too dangerous in this day and age.
I hope one of you can help!
I'm licensed in Texas, and until the 1980's I was licensed in Florida. With a military move the original license number was lost in a box of info. Is there a place online where I can go to find my inactive Fla License #?
THANKS!!!!

I was wondering what everyone has done in regards to the address the state website has on file when you look up your license number?
I know patients or anyone can find out your name and then find out your home address (if that is the address on file). I was looking into getting into a different line of work (criminals, addicts, ect) and I felt uncomfortable knowing they could find my family and I. I know some people had their address changed to their place of employment but when I originally got my license, I didn't have a job so I never bothered to change it. If you did change it, how did you do it and does all your nursing mail get sent to your place of employment? How does that work? Thanks!
