License by Endorsement or Exam? Which is Faster?

Hello all,

I wanted to get some opinions on this: I have been offered a job in California (I'm relocating from the east coast) and my employer needs me to be licensed by the start date of the program (early august). I have not taken NCLEX yet but have already filled out my maryland board of nursing application to take it and be licensed there. My question is would it be faster for me to get my license in my home state and then have it endorsed in california or should I apply for license by exam in CA directly? Also, does anyone know if it is faster to get a temporary license or the interim permit in CA?

Deal directly with CA for initial licensure. One set of goings on instead of two. With double the government agencies involved in two application processes, you will have double the chances for your paperwork to sit somewhere not acted upon.
