Lewis BAC/BSN Program and their new KAT test, what is that????

U.S.A. Illinois

I'm applying to Lewis for their ABSN program or the non-traditional program (basically night classes and weekend clinicals).

I know they just changed the test from the NET to KAT which is the Kaplan Admission Test. Has anyone heard of this test? Or has anyone taken it? I'm kinda nervous because I tried to look for more info on this test and has not found anything. All I know is that its a 91 question computerized test. Plus you only get once chance to take the test period.... double stress. :bluecry1:

Anywho if anyone has any information about this test or the general application process please post. I'll really appreciate it. Thank you very much.

Oh ok thanks! I taking the KAT in late march for the BSN program fall 2011. i will have all my prereqs done by the end of the summer. do you know when I would find out after taking my KAT exam and my file gets reviewed of when I would recieve my admission status?

I was taking the examin January the file was reviewwd in March, however people who took exam in March had their file reviewed right after the exam.

It says on the website that they recommend getting the prep book for the KAT, but it isn't on the Kaplan website. Where did you find yours?

I took the KAT test on Nov 9th. They want you to have 80% from reading and 82% from math. The math was really easy: fractions, percentages, and decimals. And you could use a drop-down calculator. I think that reading was a little more difficult, but English is my second language, so it probably will be easier for you.

As of Nov 9th, Spring 12 was already closed, and there were only 5 openings for Fall 12. They said that they would get back to use within 30 days and let us know which cohort we would be assigned to.

I believe you can buy the study guide (Nursing School Entrance Exam by Kaplan, 4th ed) from the Kaplan webpage (go to www.kaplan.com and click on "bookstore". It's one of their bestsellers) or from Amazon.com. I got mine from the public library.
