  1. I would bring the paper that says 90 days to HR and try to see if they can do something. I would try to get a different HR person as the one you talked to on the phone. And just be really nice and sweet and maybe even apologetic about it and not sound accusatory. If that doesn't go anywhere I would ask to please see an HR manager.
  2. Don't loose hope. Sometimes even if we do the very best we can, it still doesn't work out the way we want it to. At least you have a very supportive husband. Learn from what happened and just reapply. Like other poster said, it's just a tiny set back. =) Hope it works out!
  3. Hi! Maybe you can get away with buying the older editions for the professional development classes but for Health Assessment you should really buy the actual book. I know the price sucks but some books we do reuse throughout the program. And what's good is that if the publisher comes out with a newer version, we don't have to buy that and get to use the ones we already have. Another option for the professional development classes is to rent the books. But just make sure you don't need that in another class.
  4. See if he is comfortable to apply for food stamps. He is probably eligible. Tell him to look it up online. I would not "advise" him to go do it. I would just mention it in passing. Some people might feel embarassed so I wouldn't push it, but as long as you mention that its available it should be ok. That will at least cover his food. As far as the bus maybe your other classmates can pick him up?
  5. carpediem, I just used the one they recommended. I didn't buy the review book, just rented it from Chegg. Here's something I posted awhile back: Yes I took the KAT test Nov.2 and passed it..... We took the whole test but they said they are only looking at Math and Reading..... I thought it was really easy.... Anyways I'll give a run down on what I remember: Math: --- very basic stuff, lots of fractions... I also took the Hesi A2 for another school so I guess I had a lot of practice on that.... The KAT study guide had geometry but I don't remember seeing a geom problem. Reading: --- Again, very basic.... Science: --- The study guide only helped on a few questions and honestly there was way too many info on the book to study Sentence Structure: --- This is where an essay is presented and you have to know what's wrong w/ it. It is multiple choice so that makes it easier..... but the study guide didn't prepare you at all for this type of test. But they said they're not looking at this section anyways... So my advice is.... sign up for the test then ask them which section they are emphasizing on and focus on that.... I wish I can have back those 4 weeks that I spent reviewing the Science section of the KAT book which is well over half of it...... ***Granted I took this test in November so I don't know if they changed it so I would call them and ask if they're still only looking at Math and Reading. Looking back, I would advice you to take your time. I was the second to the last person to finish and that made me kinda nervous. And if there's still only looking at Math and Reading, I think its really ridiculous that they didnt say that before hand. I really feel like a sucker for studying EVERYTHING on that book.... (hahaha jus venting) I guess I'm suppose to know those things already anyways... Kamin, I don't remember how long it took. And I think I heard something about them changing the application process so I would just call them and ask. Call Nancy Wilke (sp?) She's super nice.
  6. Weight the pros and cons.... It ultimately depends on a person's situation, I think.... So what is your situation?
  7. I'm taking Patho right now and I have that same book. Understanding Pathophysiolgy by Heuther. The book explains the normal physiology first then the abnormality next. So you don't really need your A&P book. I'd sell it to buy the new book.
  8. I like this post, I'm "bookmarking" it to read the rest.
  9. Not that I'm justifying the patient's and patient's family's actions but the fact is the hospital staff messed up. On the grand scheme of things a little annoyance is still better than a lawsuit. If the pt sues the hospital that would cost the hospital a lot of money which means they will have less revenue which means less money for employee wages, for example. So what I would personally do, if I was ever on this position is to treat them with extra respect and extra "niceness" (for lack of a better term) that way they can be less annoying and management can get off your back. Just an opinion.
  10. Yea check if Financial Aid office gave you the maximum loan you can borrow for the year. Ask them. I remember in my freshman year I had to get a private loan because my federal loans werent enough. Then the next year I found out I couldve borrow the maximum amount the year prior. I could've saved a lot of money on interest since private loans have higher interest than federal lans. So just ask.
  11. I tend to hold my breath..... or breathe through my mouth... lol Is that bad?
  12. Super nervous and excited at the same time!!!! Orientation is Aug.27 then classes start August 30th. First lab is a few days later. I'm doing an ABSN program that is 18 months long. I heard the 1st semester is rough so I hope I don't get weeded out.
  13. When they start making you feel guilty, ask them what they have personally done to help their parents.... You did your share and sacrificed a lot. Don't let them keep taking advantage of you. In the end, your immediate family is more important. They are adults, your children are still children.... how are they going to be taken care of if god forbid you and your husband separate because of this?
  14. I recently bought these Stay fit containers http://www.walmart.com/ip/Stay-Fit-5-Pack-Food-Storage-Set/11072497?sourceid=1500000000000003260370&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=11072497 I have the cereal and salad one and prepare them the night before. I guess you can use any tupperware too but I like these because of all the compartments. Makes healthy eating easier,,,, I guess..
