Financial Help For Student Nurse
Hello, Im hoping for some help or guidance from other nurses or student nurses, my name is Gil, I am a LVN-RN bridge student and have been a LVN for 4 years. I am in the third semester and will graduate in May. One of my classmates in my clinical group is really having some financial trouble he is a generic RN student and I met him this year. He was having trouble since the beginning of this semester with money losing his job this semester and he did not receive enough from financial aide this semester and may have to quit the nursing program due to financial problems. To top things off he was in a accident last week and his car was totaled. Now he has been taking the bus to clinical and class, its killing me inside cause he has no family and friends he keeps to himself so not many people in my class know him. Its bothering me everyday because i feel like he just needs a break someone to be there to help him out financially, we just have a few months till graduation and I dont want him to have to quit because of money. Im broke cause i quit my job so i cant help him financially either. I havent spoken with any of our instructors yet because i dont want rumors to spread so any help is appreciated Is there any programs or resources that can help him out? I dont want him to quit and I really want to help him!1

Earned A "D" in a class...
Hello all, I know this is a question i should be asking a school councilor but its summer school they have very limited staff and the wait to see one is 3 hours...so here i am allnurses.com hope the answer is good... Well I am currently a LVN in the state of CA and am now in the second year of the RN program (carrer ladder) back when i was a young fool fresh out of high school i wasnt taking things so seriously and got a D in Sociology Now that I in the last year and about to graduate the CA BRN states you must complete the pre requistes classes with a C or better... I know that a D is considered passing and i hear that with a D you cannot retake a course? Will my young mistake come back and bite me in the A**??? I mean my GPA now is 3.5 cumulative and almost 4.0 in nursing pre reqs but will this D hinder me from not being eligible to sit for the board exams?!?!!? I worked my butt off to be in this position and i dont want a mistake that i made 3 years ago to ruin it all

Tattoos
Ive seen tons of nurses male and female with tattoos I worked in psych for the last 3 years and ive seen nurses with full sleeves on both arms not covered up with short sleeve shirts and they have never gotten in trouble but...this was at a private free standing psychiatric facility. my brother on the other hand has a half sleeve and although hes not a nurse (RT) he goes to work @ huntington memorial hospital everyday without covering it up. For me as a LVN i held off on a tattoo till after i was done with my RN. I waited because I did not want to be hassled by my instructors about covering it up durring clinical or make the wrong impression (since these people have my carrer in their hands) Once school is over (may 2011) and i land a job i will get a 3/4 sleeve on my right arm...but always remember just because hospitals are ok with sleeves and tattoos it is a big pt barrier and the baby boomer generation may not be as accepting of it as your administrators/managers will be I dont think you will be able to wear the gloves around all day where i work gloves can only be worn in a pts room and never in the hallways you must change the gloves each time and the make up would just was off because of all the times you wash your hands durring one shift
