I received a letter from Macomb today. Did everyone else get theirs? It states, "Ranking will begin on April 26 for the nursing program." It also listed my GPA rank and Hesi composite score. It's going to be a long couple of weeks of anticipation! Good luck to everyone.
Last year, I applied at MCC with a 3.2 (terrible, long story, had to re-do psych) and an 84 on the HESI, and I was in the ranked somewhere around 725. I cried. I wasn't even close. And since my scores aren't THAT much better this year, I'm still a bit worried. But I guess the good news is they didn't sell out the HESI this year (fist year in a while) and since they've changed the rules, it'll be interesting to see how everyones scores stack up.
I hope you get accepted to at least one of the programs you're going for!! Have you looked into any other schools?
I had her also....lol.
Don't worry you are going to be at Baker!!!!

You all have great GPA, hope you find out soon.
I know all about that good/bad Professor thing. I know a lot of people who drive out of their way just to get the Prof who will give out A's. I wonder what the nursing program thinks about that? (about certain Professors who have a lot of A come out of their class) My Prof practically told us that the Nursing Dept was complaining about people getting A's and not knowing A&P. Well, there will be very few A's in our class Im afraid. Same for my micro class. It was full with about 40 people and I think only 3 people got an A. (most dropped out, so the class was very cozy and we all knew each other grades)
So I take it you're applying next year then Anne36? I've never understood why some teachers "spoon feed" their students, giving them answers, not challenging them, etc. ESPECIALLY A&P teachers. That's obviously one of the most important classes for a nurse-to-be. I remember being in A&P 1, having a tough teacher, and complaining that the other students didn't have to work as hard/study as hard... but then I realized that this is going to be my career, and I shouldn't be trying to take the easy road. I was glad I stuck with my difficult teacher, and took him again for A&P 2, because in the end, I feel like I know more than a lot of the other students from the other easy teachers.
It sounds like you're still in the class... so hang in there!
Thanks LauJen
I am almost done with A&P 1 and taking A&P 2 this summer. Yes, I know what you mean. I want to be told what is on the exam, but since we dont know, I have been learning a lot more. Sometimes I get teed off about other people breezing through the same class with another Proff. They have no appreciation for how much work I have to do for the same result. I really dont understand why the school is run this way. We are all applying to the same program.
Im not getting an easy teacher for A&P 2 either. Oh well, I hope it helps me out down the road. I go to OCC and was talking about our school.
this is a quick reminder for all who post to please refrain from naming instructors' names and identifiers.

No, they dont give you the ranking in the letter, but it does say that you won't find out when you start until June 21st (for either an august, october, january, or march start)... so maybe they will tell you then? I think you and I have talked before, and you had higher scores than me, so if I made it in, you know you've got this!

LauJen, It looks like you and I will be ranked the same! The Dean of Nursing is one of my professors and she told me my scores would have been borderline last year, let's hope that this year's scores are not as high. I feel the same way, I am 43 and even though this is my first time applying, I have to do something quickly. I have also applied to Respiratory Therapy and I am praying that I get accepted into at least one of the programs. Nursing is my first choice but I think I will be fine with RT if that is what is meant to be. Who did you have for Micro?
I think that Macomb should have to pay for therapy sessions for all of us since this waiting is excruciating! Or at the very least, buy us some drinks! lol
Good luck to everyone!
