hi everyone! i'm holli. i took boards on june 13th and passed with 75 questions. i am starting work on july 18th at the only hospital i ever wanted to work for. it is a great pediatric facility! i will be on the (post-op) surgical floor, and we also have all of the endocrine kids. also, they just added an epilepsy monitoring unit, for overnight monitoring and for the brain mapping they are doing. i expressed an interest in that, so they will cross-train me in that unit as well. i can't wait to get started!

Hi there everyone, I don't think I ever offically introduced myself.

And now I am starting my first job at a non-profit hospital in Surgical Acute Care :)

You will see me around a LOT.

Hi and thanks for the kind encouraging words. NCLEX, the test itself wasn't as bad as I expected, when mine didn't shut off right at 75 I started to panic... had to collect my self, then, next thing you know. It shut off. so,,,, the waiting was the worst part, first day( the day I took the test), I kept busy and was pretty OK the second day, the doubt set in and I started freaking out. the third day my license # was posted on the state board of nursing site by 9 am and that is how I found out. :nurse: One of my professors of nursing said the best thing to me that really got me through the nervous part.. she siad, even if the results are unfavorable.... it is not the worst thing in the world, there are far worse things in this world. I hung onto that. I have a healthy supportive family and I could have overcome difficulty. I will keep you in my thoughts as i fill out the endless piles of paperwork on my 1st day, orientation. Good luck and blessings to handle whatever the outcome may be.

Wow how I envy you! You actually had a nursing instructor who was nice instead of intimidating. Congrats to you!

Hello everyone, my name is Shell, this is my very frist post to allnurses :imbar

I've been snooping around the site for a while though. So...I graduated in June, I passed my NCLEX on 8/18 after answering 110 questions  and I start my new job tomorrow as a pedi RN at a health center in the city. I am very excited and very anxious. . I'v been saying that I want to do med/surg or tele when I graduate but I live in Boston and those positions are very limited....Anyways, I am looking forward to chatting.

Kenmak, why did you wait so long?

Life is why I waited so long. I was in the military and I was sent to Iraq twice and pakistan once. Once I was able to get off active duty, it enabled me to concentrate on school and studying. Marriage and having children also contibuted to why I did not make it to RN school earlier than 14 years later.

Kenmak, why did you wait so long?

That's easier said than done. I was attending a community college for my RN and didn't pass by .3 of one point! The head of the nursing program was all too happy to get rid of me. I have no idea why, it still haunts me. Her last words to me was, "we all can't be astronauts". Gee I never thought of nursing as being so elevated up there with the astronauts! She said other mean "off the wall" remarks too, just would rather forget it. But somehow I can't.

Hello everyone, I'm Prajwal and I'm in my last semester of nursing school. I have started my preceptorship in MICU at UAB. So far I've enjoyed nursing but the only thing that terrifies me is this thinking of how I'm gonna adapt to the environment after I graduate and be on my own. I guess this is not abnormal but I really feel I'm up for the challenge. I hope to be a critical care nurse and serve my patients, their families and the community.

Hi everyone....My name is Sharon. I graduated in January and passed the boards in February. I haven't started working as yet because I was expecting. Now that my little princess:heartbeat is here I'm ready to start my journey in nursing
