Let's me guess...AP nursing flooded too?

Published

So I begin at frontier for their fnp program next month and to be honest I'm reconsidering it...nursing all together actually. With as flooded as the market is right now for RNs is it not the same for FNPs? I don't relish the thought of going 60k in debt and then being unable to find a job.

There are a lot of needs, you just have to know where to look. Most NP jobs are not posted like RN jobs.

I don't graduate for a loooooonnnggg time, but would love advice on the best places to look for jobs!:)

I think rural areas that MDs/DO avoid will be our bread and butter?

That's assuming your state allows NPs to have their own offices, most of them still do not. And you will definitely need some solid experience under your belt before you'd be competent to be on your own.

I already said I'd need to work a few years in an early post, my state does, and there exists an organized effort for FNPs to be able to practice independently.

@TinkerNurse - I'm am getting my packet together to apply to Frontier as we speak, glad to hear you are impressed so far! My concerns regarding the flooding market echo yours. I'm anxious to hear about the program and your decision in a couple months from now!
