I know this has been done many times.. But lately I have been seeing alot of new names on the board... So I figured I could start another introduction of ourselves thread...

Feel free to share anything you want us to know..... What semester you are in? or when you hope to start??? married/single?? kids?? Pets?? Fears?? what area you want to work in??? age??? Anything you feel like sharing...

I will start.. :D

I am 25 (be 26 on the 20th of this month).... I am married, 2yrs on July 15th... No kids.. Just 4 rotten animals... :)

I just completed my first semester this past May.... It was NOT as hard as all the horror stories, but it did take ALOT of studying.. I am in a ADN program.. My hopes when I finish is to work with Children... There is a Childrens Hospital 2 1/2hrs from me and I would LOVE to work there... I am also working at a hospital as a PCA part time.. I plan on working 1 day or 2 a week during the 2nd semester... But we will see how that goes.... If you read the post YIPPEE!! you will see that I just recently got to put in a Foley at work, and we haven't even learned that in school yet... I was really excited.. :roll

I start back on August 19th and if we started back tomorrow, I would be MORE than ready...

Hey ya'll! I'm 46, married, and down to the last two kids at home out of six (we're the Brady Bunch!) They are going to be a Senior and Junior in high school this fall. I'm just finishing up A & P I the end of this month, and will be taking College Algebra in the fall, along with two "fast-track" 8 week classes for A & P II and Psychology. I want to get as many of the prereqs finished now so I can apply for the ADN program at the local community college in December. I'm still working full-time in the the brokerage business, and plan to continue there until I am accepted; which, God willing, will be in Spring 2003. If everything else stays on schedule, I'll be graduating in fall of 2004 with my ADN.

I've always wanted to be a nurse, but "life" intervened back when I graduated from high school, and I just wasn't able to follow my dream at that point. But I've also had the chance to raise up some really great kids, and have some fun-filled experiences (like community theatre and competitive skating) along the way, so I don't feel like I've "wasted" the last 28 years. I make very good money now, but I'm tired of letting numbers (read: other people's money) run my life...I get the most satisfaction from helping people, and human contact, so now is the time to finally reach for my original goal. I'm very excited to be back in school, and have a 4.00 GPA so far, so I guess the old girl hasn't lost her touch! My husband and family are extremely supportive, so I gues I'm finally on my way.

Its great hearing about all of my fellow students...best of luck to all of you! I know we won't be able to completely alleviate the shortage, but it sounds like there are some fanastic nurses-to-be out there!

You're so nice to welcome everybody!:D

Hi everybody... My name is Silvia and I'm 39.... I am married and have three girls 15,11, and 5.... I now live in Wisconsin, but I am originally from Germany. I'm in an ADN program and start my first semester of clinicals August 19th... this is exciting and scary at the same time... Graduation will be Spring 2004 if everything goes as planned. I haven't posted much yet, but I pretty much visit here on a daily basis just to read all the interesting posts. I probably won't be doing much of that once school starts again. I think this board is great!!:kiss

hello all. i found this site about a year ago but mostly lurk just to see what other students are up to. misery loves company. :D

i'm a 31 y.o. mother of 2 boys (11 y.o. and 2 y.o.). i'm in my 4th rotation (psych nursing) at a community college in ohio. due to graduate in june 2003.

I feel like I am always talking about my kids and family but here it goes again. I love to talk about those topics!

I am 32 years old with five children ages 12, 11, 8, 5, and 21 months. I have 3 boys and 2 girls (they are #3 and #5). I have been married for almost 14 years, and no I didn't HAVE to get married at such a young age, I just wanted to. I always hear "why did you get married so young?" Well I just figure that some will be starting their family when some of my kids will be out of high school. I like my arrangement better.

Anyways...I started school when I was 17 and have done most of my education in secondary education with emphasis in spanish (I was an exchange student in Mexico for my sophomore year of high school). Then I had my kids and I changed my mind. Since I already had so much school, I only needed a few classes. I started the ADN program on June 17 taking Pharmacology and holy cow is it tough taking that in the summer! I don't recommend it to anyone. It's a tough class to begin with and then to have at least 8 chapters a week. YIKES!:nono: It's a definite NO NO!

I live in Las Vegas and we have been ROASTING lately. The high all week long is 112. When the news came on at 11 p.m. it was still 99 outside. Talk about heat!

hang in there, as i know you will do, with the pharmacology, forevermomof5.

we too had the option of taking pharmacology and health assessment this summer, but my brain needed a rest from the previous 5 straight semesters.

prayfully, i will have a "rested brain" and a "renewed mind" for learning when classes start in august.

let us know how you are doing and as always, keep the faith!

Hello!

I am a 28yo (29 on the 13th) recently divorced mother of a 6yo dd. I am starting the nursing portion of a BSN this August and will graduate in December 2004 with honors. I'm living with the world's most wonderful man (really :blushkiss ), a beautiful dog, cat and 6 hamsters (4 babies).

I've never been so successful at anything as I am with school this time and I'm loving life!

Hi there! I'm Marci, I'm 36 and getting ready to start my 2nd year of pre-reqs for the ADN program. I'm married with 2 kids and a step-daughter. I love biology but HATE:( math!! Next semester is Chem and I hope to survive the math part!

I quit my job last year as a corporate paralegal. I wanted to spend some time with my baby :kiss and pursue a degree in teaching. After I started school I changed my mind and decided on nursing. Nursing hasn't been my lifelong dream, it was more like a "lightbulb moment". Once I thought about it, it was clear that nursing and my personality, character, and aptitude were a perfect fit! Now I can't wait to start the program!!!!

Hello, My name is Brad.Im 40 yo starting level 1 in aug. This is my second career after 20 yrs industrial sales. My wonderful wife has been a RN for 15 yrs. two children 16 & 11. I really look forward to being a nurse, I have had great support so far in school. I am really nervous about starting the nursing classes though. Please wish me luck. My wife seems to think I wont have a problem. So far in my intro class theres 4 guys out of 50 students the ladies have been great, really looking forward to working with them.

Best wishes to all!

My name is Judy. I'm 39, a divorced mom of a nine year old boy. I start my clinical classes Aug. 19. This will be my second foray into nursing school as I had to drop out of a BSN program for lack of funds. Now in an ADN program. Presently, I work in a library as the manager of the Internet Resource Center. Next month, I will be working in the hospital as an aid in a new rehab department. Looking forward to that.

Glad to see more guys entering the field. Good luck to all!

Hi everyone! Good to meet you all.

I'm Leslie....I'm an ASN student about to begin my second yr, but as of the past couple of weeks I've been considering continuing into the BSN ( we have a 2+2 program) but I'm not sure what I'm going to do...just thinking it might be easier if I keep the school momentum going??? I'm sure I'll change my mind once classes begin though...I'm very indecisive

I'm 21, mom to a 20 mo old boy & soon to be the adoptive mom of a couple of fur-babies-I'm so excited! We will be moving across town in the end of August which will be a great move for us--VERY convenient...BUT my classes begin Aug 26 & that is the very same day we have to be moved out by...needless to say the weekend before will be CRAZY

Let to Back-to-School countdown begin....
