HEY! This is my first post. I can't find anyone who is considering Lenoir community college nursing program. I am currently on the alternate list for both ADN & LPN PROGRAM. Lenoir is my first choice. Do I have a good enough chance of getting in? They won't say how many people are on there or what number i am. Also i know they take in 80 for ADN and atleast 30 for LPN according to the accredidation site that shows the max amount of students. Do they actually have that many in each program because i only see atleast 20 people for pinning last year and years before that maybe less.
Hey Tamm!
I was there too! I was in the very front row with a navy blue blouse and pink flowers on it (short black hair). That's freakin awesome! I was gonna stay back to ask questions but I had a brain fart and had nothing to ask lol PLUS I live in Swansboro so it's a haul to and from the school :) Nice to make an acquaintance before class starts, I felt like I was the only one in there without a friend. ~Gayle

What?!?!?! You mean they outright lied to you.
Or did YOU misunderstand when they said that "LCC is accredited?" Which they are, by the Southern Association of Colleges which is completely different from the Nursing program being accredited. I provided you with proof that LCC ADN program is not accredited. All you have to do is go to the link I provided and do a search of accredited programs in NC. There is even an email you can use to contact them directly.
The link (again) that I provided is https://www.acenursing.org
Here is a link to Pitt Community College SON, with their page displaying info about their accreditation https://pittcc.edu/academics/academic-programs/health-sciences-division/associate-degree-nursing/accreditation/
Being approved by the BON is not the same as being accredited by the ACEN.
As for being able to work in Multiple States, if you graduate the program and sit for NCLEX and pass, then you are issued a MultiState License, regardless of whether the program you graduated from was accredited.
In order to sit for NCLEX you only need to graduate from a BON approved program. The Multistate license only enables you to work in a compact on a temporary basis without having to go through Endorsement. So you could work on a 13 week assignment as a Travel Nurse in a compact state, as long as you maintain your residency in the state you obtained your license from. Once you move, change residency to the other state, your Multi-State license is void and you must go through the process of endorsement. Not every state is part of the compact so you need to check (Good News: The Compact States are growing but that only helps you if you become a Travel Nurse) https://nurse.org/articles/enhanced-compact-multi-state-license-eNLC/ Bottom Line: The Multi-state license won't be any benefit to you unless you decide to work as a Travel Nurse through an agency, on temporary assignment.
Everyone is in a different situation. If you never plan on leaving NC, then it won't matter - but then again, things happen and you might need to move.
Yes, getting a BSN from an accredited Nursing Program at a university will solve this dilemma however not every University will accept nursing students who graduated from an nonaccredited nursing program. ECU and UNCW will absolutely accept you but if you move out of state, they are your only options, then you will be paying a very high out of state tuition, even if you are taking the RN to BSN program online. So you need to keep all of this info in mind before making your choices.
I also realize that not everyone can get into an accredited nursing program in NC, as it is highly competitive so sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do - just know the facts so you don't graduate from an nonaccredited program and immediately move out of state and can't find a job because of it. I know of one student who graduated from Craven Community College Nursing program (nonaccredited) and move to Nebraska and could not get her Nursing License endorsed, she had to go to Nursing School all over again in Nebraska. Just know the facts and make wise decisions based upon your personal life situation.
Before you move out of state, contact the nursing board there and explain you graduated from an approved but nonaccredited program and make sure you qualify for endorsement. Some states even require you work a certain amount of time (a year, two years) before they will endorse you. Just look at what it takes to qualify for endorsement in NC for those traveling here. go to the NCBON website and look it up. Every state is different. Some states don't care if your program was nonaccredited or that you have not worked under it - it varies state to state.
The cost of tuition and inability to work a full-time job while in nursing school (if you want to pass) might make one want to consider carefully which nursing schools they apply to as you deserve to get the BEST for your money.
When you take NCLEX at Pearson Vue, you cannot bring any personal items with you and if you wear glasses you have to remove them for them to check them out. You are in a booth and videotaped. The videotape is reviewed by a human before you are issued a nursing license. The truth is, a LOW pass rate on NCLEX indicates that the program is doing a *** job of teaching and that is why nursing programs can lose get shut down by the BON for low NCLEX passrates. (3 year avg has to be 95% of the national avg) Schools are put on probation and given warnings and then closed down if they continue to have low NCLEX pass rates for first-time test-takers.

Heyyy I think I remember I was there with my mom lol kinda close to the front on the other side but nice to meet you!!
Be glad you aren’t in Florida. They are closing down the unaccredited nursing programs. North Carolina could be next to do it. You never know ... https://www.theledger.com/news/20190907/board-of-nursing-begins-to-terminate-unaccredited-schools
