Lehman College FNP Program - Fall 2023

Hey All ,

I wanted to start a topic to see if anyone got into Lehman College this year (2023) for the FNP program and if they are considering going. Also have you heard any pros/cons about the school? If anyone is currently enrolled now any feedback and/or advice would be greatly appreciated!

@amikatoth Hey what do you want to know? I'm in my second semester taking Patho which is super hard. So far things are ehhh when it comes to certain professors...But I highly recommend having and making friends in the class, it helps a ton! I don't think any school is perfect, there's pros and cons everywhere. I'd still recommend to come here, esp due to the tuition price. They are slowly making changes for the better after a lot of complaints have been arisen in the past, so that's good.

Hey! I just got accepted and considering enrolling for FNP MS in Fall 2024. I've been trying to get in contact with someone but to no avail. How long is the program on a full-time basis? Is it cohort-style or you can complete the classes kind of on your own pace?

@FutureNurseKay1 Sorry for the delay in response. I hope you have started? The program is 2.5 years on a full-time basis. They recently just changed it to cohort-style, you cannot complete classes on your time and when you want.

The Patho and Pharm class was brutal. For Patho, the professor was terrible—she literally just sat down and read from her notebook. A lot of people were failing, and she ended up giving extra credit at the end.

Pharm, on the other hand, was traumatic for me and my friends. It was a Summer course, so it was only 6 weeks (technically 5). The best part was the professor—she was really good and had recorded lectures, so we could always play them back. That definitely helped! Don't ask me how I passed. LOL Doing practice questions from Quizlet helped A LOT. Would I reccommend the program.....if you don't want loans...yes. However, you really need a good group of friends to make, even if it's just one person just for that support. With the friends I made IDK how I would make it where I am now. There's been a few cons in this program but you just have to remember you have a goal in mind and push through.

@ICUandbeyond We have complained to the chair and director about some things including taking pharm in such a short time. So hopefully they make changes in the near future.

I ve been reading through the entire discussion (LOL). I just recently applied for this upcoming 2025 fall FNP program. I haven't heard anything back yet but hopefully soon. I have one other back up. I read somewhere that Lehman is the only CUNY FNP program, That makes me nervous about my acceptance now. Any talk about accreditation or is everything OK now? also do you guys have to find your own preceptors and clinical sites? sorry one more question, I read that you have classes only once a week. What time does the day usually start and end?
