A in AP1

CHEM114/115 B and B-; I transferred in with these and seeing the science classes at Lehman are much easier :(

Im aiming for A's in Micro and chem120/121

And to score high on the HESI, im already studying

This summer i completed 4 classes on top of AP2 receiving a A and a 3.9 gpa cumulative i would hope my determination and record will help, im a little nervous about applying next year

THANK YOU

@ABRBDBSH thank you, I used quizlet to look for hesi CT questions and for the most part tried my best to think about the most rational thing to do.

@AspiringNP_ wonderful, thank you. So do they really only rank us by gpa and then CT score as a tie breaker between people with same GPAs? I’m just not sure if I should put all my eggs in one basket. Also, how are you liking the program, do you work alongside school?

@YAMSANDPURPLE hey we might be in the same class. I got an email saying the textbook would be thoroughly useful especially since it has review questions for each chapter. There is hw via sapling, and we will be using clickers.

@Perspective17 Yes! If its on Sunday we are in the same class. I wanted to find the pdf version since the book is sort of heavy to carry around.

Does anyone know if Lehman has a waiting list for the nursing program? I know they only accept 100 students for the generic, so the other students who had good grades go on the waiting list or they get denied?

Hi guys! I was accepted for Fall 2018 last year. If you have any questions, let me know.

Not everyone who was accepted to the accelerated program had a 4.0gpa, but most did. I believe the lowest accepted was someone with a 3.8 something. The great news is that you can apply to the accelerated and also check off the option to be accepted into the Generic if they run out of seats for the accelerated program.

@YAMSANDPURPLE I do think you have a chance at getting accepted to the generic program if your HESI score is good. Also, Lehman does have a waiting list. I know one person who was put on the waiting list and was accepted because someone decided to go elsewhere.

@Perspective17 Your CT score is amazing and the rest of your stats are good. Just secure a really good grade in Microbio and you should be totally fine. A lot of us were finishing Microbio the semester we applied and we got accepted. Like AspirinNP stated, they wait until all of the grades are in before they make their decision.

@Perspective17 & @YAMSANDPURPLE Does your professor's last name begin with a "P"? If so, I took him on Sundays last year and I never used a textbook for his class. He gives great notes and resources so you don't really need it. I got an A in his class.

@amberrae Thank you so much for answering our questions! That makes me even more worried that there is a waiting list, since the students with 4.0 will be accepted first.

The professor's last name begins with a C. Do you have any tips on studying for Organic chemistry?

@YAMSANDPURPLE Most of the people on the waiting list had GPAs below 3.5. Your GPA is really good, so you should be fine.

My organic chemistry class was a little different. My teacher wrote everything out on the board which made the class a lot easier in my opinion. You could see every step he took to figure out the answer. He also gave us worksheets, supplemental notes, and old exams to use. I personally just used the worksheets and old exams to study. I constantly went over concepts and questions I did not understand. I would say, just do many practice questions as possible for concepts you do not understand. If your professor gives you old exams to study from, definitely use them. They will help you a lot.

Do they take our cumulative gpa into consideration?

Anyone see Dr.Dobson?

Update—-

Science gpa- 3.87

Hesi scores-

Math: 95%

Reading: 86%

A&P: 92%

CT: 880

@ILoveGreen I’d say you’re as good as in.

your stats are solid. Have you seen an advisor? I’m getting nervous about whether or not they look at our cumulative gpa as well

I haven’t seen an advisor. Is it required to do so?

Hello,

I have been a NYC Paramedic for the last 6 years and I've decided to go back to school for nursing. I know there are tons of schools in NY but as a CUNY baby, I am heavily considering Lehman or Hunter for ABSN. After doing my research, I saw that now neither is accepting repeated prereqs!!!!! This absolutely sucks.

I've read several posts but none that really tackle my issue. I know these programs are competitive and I wanted my application to be as competitive as possible. Because my prereqs are 10+ years old, I planned to retake them, not only to refresh, but also to earn better grades (even a B+ to an A helps right?) Now I am wondering if it is pointless for me to even consider CUNY. My B.S. is in Forensic Science, a science intense major (not sure about now, but back then, not too many even finished the program). Do they take the difficulty of the program in to account, or the fact that it was almost 15 years ago?

How strict is this new policy? Could they possible make an exception because my prereqs are outdated? Many of my friends are telling me to go PA or MD. Even though the prereqs are pretty much the same, most let you repeat them without issue. I am heavily interested in research but I also love patient care, so nursing seems like the route for me, ABSN > MSN > DNP. Anyone have any insight?

@MusicalMedic3 Hello,

From reading your post I would recommend you apply to P.A school, you have a lot of patient care hours. But if you’re not interested on being a P.A and want to become a nurse you can apply to NYU ABSN program and Columbia has an accelarated option that you can become an RN and then an NP in three years.

Best of luck!
