Legal options for nurses

Published

I'm not sure what category to post this under so moderators please feel to redirect. I need help with knowing what my options are going after an agency if they don't pay me money owed for my patients visits? As of now they owe me over $1500 for visits not paid. Of course first I will talk to them and try to get it resolved, but if if unsuccessful, I need to know what my options are. This is the first time they have been behind this much in payment. All my notes are turned in. Anyway, if unsuccessful in getting paid what do I do? Talk to a government agency like JACCO? Small claims court? Their must be some legal authority that helps nurses resolve these issues . I assume it's illigal for them not to pay me right? Has anyone had this problem, and what did you do about it? Any help with this is greatly appreciated! Thank you guys!

The Labor board in your state can help you.

Thanks. Have you had help from them ?

1. JCAHCO is not a Government entity, they can't help you

2. Talk to your employer , miscommunication somewhere ?

3. Yes, small claims court is an option

4. No more working till the pay is resolved

Good advice, thanks!

Are their any government or state agencies that are specifically set up to help health care providers?

Employers who do not pay employees are violating labour laws and the labour board can help you, a healthcare government agency does not have the authority to resolve labour law disputes.
