Legacy RN Residency - Winter 2014

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

This thread is for applicants to Legacy's Versant RN Residency program that starts Winter 2014. Congratulations to those of you who have recieved an email to start registering for the pre-screening interviews. Good luck to everyone!

I don't think it is very difficult to land an interview for the residency program if you meet all of the requirements. Getting past the first round of interviews is another story. The competition is tough for the 20-40 jobs available. But it's not impossible!

Thanks for the reply. May I ask what kind of position you accepted to pass up this opportunity? Sorry to intrude, if you don't feel comfortable answering here you can pm me. I'm in search of my first job after getting my license last month. :)

Not an intrusion! :) So I graduated in Sept and passed NCLEX in October. I was applying to just about every hospital opening that I qualified for, but I didn't have much luck. I was looking to start out in critical care, but I knew it would be tough as a new grad. That's when I decided to apply to residency programs and landed a few interviews. However, mid-December I got a call to interview for a staff RN position on the trauma step-down unit at the hospital where I went to school. I had a rotation on this floor and I completed my senior practicum in the trauma ICU so I decided to go ahead with the interview. To my surprise I was offered the position a few days later. While the residency would be an amazing opportunity I did not want to pass up this job offer. The market is pretty tough out there for new grads! Plus, I really enjoyed my time on the unit and it sparked my interest in trauma in the first place.

i applied to this program and i am hoping that i will get the call for a second interview.

did anyone get a second interview and did anyone turn in their references electronically?

i got an email informing me that references are only allowed if they chose to move forward with our application ... does that come before or after being selected for the second interview?

I applied this round for Emergency and haven't heard anything back yet, but am hopeful I will! :)

@gloriajt did you have to give them any of your references?

No, I haven't seen anything that has asked or allowed for me to provide references. Did you interview for emergency too?

I am interested in applying to the ED residency program when i graduate from nursing school, however, I have never actually seen a student nurse completing a clinical in the ED. So if I wanted to give myself the best opportunity to be competitive for the residency program what would be the best approach while in nursing school?

I applied for the pediatric residency position, but haven't heard anything yet. Anyone else?

There are multiple residency specialties to apply for, does anyone know the breakdown of how many apply for which specialty? For example, out of the 600 applicants per cycle how many apply for pediatrics or critical care etc...?

Has anyone from any unit heard news about the second round of interviewing? I know they said it would happen between Jan 1-31 but does anyone have updates?

Specializes in CVICU, CRNA.

I got a call at the beginning of the week for a second interview for ICU

I applied for women's health, and STILL haven't heard anything. They let us know either way, right?
