Thanks! I see several openings. I hear about great benefits from the State. Worth a shot. Do they provide training? Any news from Salem? I applied today.

Salem Residency
Thanks for the tip! You know I've contemplated about doing psych nursing since I feel I excel at making people at ease. I also have a good friend who has bipolar disorder with schizophrenia. Although he lives with his parents and is overall in good health, he still has this hidden condition that nobody knows and sees. I feel like I can learn and provide more support if I get trained professionally at a psych unit. I have also attended last summer a class provided to families by the National Alliance on Mental Illness. I encouraged my friend's mom to attend. We took the class together. It was a very enlightening experience for both of us. My friend's mom felt that she wasn't alone dealing with this problem. I was able to see what different families go through and how they have coped throughout the years. Do you mind telling me what the name of the state hospital is? I think it would be wise to explore and apply there. Thank you in advance.

Salem Residency
Good to hear. I'm currently in Eugene, OR and checking out what's out here. I have a BSN and got my license last Dec 2013. I'm a novice nurse however I've had extensive practicum in all areas. I'm coming from a Philippine school and recently made my move to Oregon. I'm staying with friends at the moment. Although they are moving on soon. But for now, I get to stay with them. I went to a dialysis job fair last week at Embassy Suites next to PDX and it was a positive experience. They seem to be hiring a lot of nurses. I'm waiting to hear from them this week. It was with Fresenius. I have also interviewed with a long term care facility locally and it went well. Which parts are you in at the moment? Are you looking all over the state?

CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students
Hi thank you for the quick response. I'm not exactly sure what you mean though. Are you saying I cannot convert my application into an endorsement midway approval?

CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students
Hello fellow nurses, I was wondering if someone can answer a question I have. I currently have an open application BY EXAMINATION with the BRN CA but I have since passed NCLEX in the state of Oregon for about 4 months now. My application is still in the "send clinical schedules, have school explain this, etc" phase. My school has sent a total of 3 additional queries by the CA BRN. Now my question is this; Can I convert my application from a "license by examination" to "license by reciprocity?" I was planning on sending my licensing analyst a letter with my Oregon license to support this. I am hoping to avoid paying yet another fee. This has gotten expensive and time consuming. Has anyone else done this? Also does anyone dissuade even attempting this? I am a IEN from the Philippines. I am also licensed in the Philippines if that makes any difference. Thank you in advance. :)

Does Oregon require TOEFL exam?
Hello, Yes, I did submit the language verification page to my school which they then in turn submitted to CGFNS along with my official transcripts. A week after CGFNS received my documents, It was forwarded to Oregon Board of Nursing. After that, it only took a few days before I was eligible by Oregon. The longest wait is when CGFNS is waiting for your documents. I also had my Philippine license verified which took longer on my part since I had to ask for help from friends to personally deliver documents to PRC. CGFNS moves rather quickly with the evaluation. So in short, I did not submit any other English proficiency requirements to Oregon other than the CGFNS CES package.

Does Oregon require TOEFL exam?
I didn't take TOEFL for Oregon. I used CES from CGFNS. I got my license last December 2013.

Failed NCLEX-RN Twice... Need help please!
I'd like to recommend to you Saunder's. I personally used Saunders 5th edition to review for the board. I took it last December and passed on my 1st attempt. I followed the reading calendar that the CD generates for you after taking the assessment. It has a six week schedule but took me 2 full months to finish. I answered 100 random questions from the CD each day as well. It was surprising how much more I learned after reading the entire book. Give it a try! :)

PRC- CGFNS application
Hi there, I had to do this as well last year. I opted to ask a good friend of mine to go to PRC for me. I just didn't trust the mail system and I didn't find any information on PRC's website on how to accomplish a mail in request. My friend brought my CGFNS forms to PRC and paid the appropriate fees for Fedex and PRC's fees. My suggestion is to just ask a huge favor to someone you know in Manila to do this for you. -E
