Legacy RN Residency February 2020

Published

Hello!

I wanted to start a thread for the 2020 applicants for the Legacy RN residency program. I just got my interview date for next month (11/13) and I wanted to see if anyone had any input on the interview process, types of questions they ask, what happens after the first set of interviews, how likely is it that if we make it through that we get assigned/hired to our preferred unit, etc. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Best of luck to everyone applying!

Hey!

Congrats on getting into the residency. I was wondering if the spot was for Legacy Emmanuel or Legacy Salmon Creek?

Thank you! I will be at Emanuel. I interviewed for both salmon creek and emanuel but never heard back from Salmon creek at all.

I was wondering if you knew whether salmon creek has done their second interviews yet?

I did my second round interview with salmon creek I think right before Thanksgiving. Not sure if they are still doing them or not. I never heard back after the second interview.

Cheers to 2020!

I still haven't heard back after the first round of interviews. Has anyone else had any luck besides those who have already posted here?

I applied and completed a video interview for the Providence RN residency program and am waiting to hear back but I'm starting to lose hope that I will find a pediatric position in Portland.

I am hoping the new year brings job opportunities our way!

Happy new year!

Not related to your question but I'm curious to know, When did you apply for Providence? I applied since November and it's still at "we are reviewing your application" status. Just wondering if there's a certain start date for the program.

I first applied in May (before I graduated) and did the HireVue interviews but never heard back. I reapplied in December and was sent another video interview invitation (although they changed to Modern Hire).

It is frustrating that it is just a general interest interview instead of for specific units. I don't think they provide a start date until you get through the next round of interview for specific units that are available.

I just checked the site and they have some Resident positions in Medford and Newberg. Not sure if you have to reapply to those on top of the general residency app.

Yeah I applied to specific units but also was invited for further consideration of other units but I haven't moved forward to an in person interview.

So there's no specific start date or a set of units available, that is frustrating ?

I applied to Providence as well but I applied the week before Christmas, so I haven’t heard anything yet. How long did you wait until you heard a response from them? Thanks!

I applied to the general residency application early November and heard back I would say within 2 weeks for a position in the cardiology unit but wasn't selected for further consideration. When they contact you, they ask you if your interested in being considered for the unit available and then it goes on from there.

What did you put for your first and second choices? I’m worried that me putting L&D first might decrease my chances.

I think it was med surg and PCU. I actually reached out to a recruiter yesterday asking about how the program works and she just replied. This is what she said: We are continuously hiring RN Residents and we match your applications to open positions- based on your chosen specialty and location. We’ll be sending you a message once we receive feedbacks from the hiring managers.

I guess it's also a waiting game lol

I put NICU and Peds. I would consider other units but they don't let you select more than two options ?

Anyone heard anything about the OHSU Transition to Practice program? Just applied but I can't find any information on this site about the actual hiring experience..
