Leaving Nursing School To Pursue My Dream for Elementary Teacher.

Published

As of today I have decided to back out of nursing. I am a CNA and I knew that deep down in my heart it wasn't for me. Nursing is too much of a responsibility, I know teaching is as well, but nursing has its life or death responsibilities , I dont want someone else's life in my hands like that. One mistake and you can lose it all. I am already burned out from CNA. Teaching. just has always been my first love, I just wanted to try nursing to see if it was really for me, but I see now its not. Im not knocking anyone who is a Nurse or pursuing to become one, by all means if nursing is what you truly love go for it. Most people are ashamed or embarrassed to walk away, but there is nothing wrong with finding out what it is you truly love to do. I will not waste anymore time because time is precious, so I say all of this to say this, If nursing is not want you want to do PLEASE DO NOT waste your time trying to do it because you feel like you are going to get rich or because everyone else is doing it, or someone push you to do it. Do what makes you happy, you have to live with this career for the rest of your life, not anyone else but you. Good luck to all fellow nurses and Student Nurses.????

It takes a smart person to realize this career pathway isn't for them fairly early in the process, before investing too much time and money. Good luck to you!

By all means, follow your own bliss. Godspeed and good luck on your educational journey.

It takes a huge amount of courage to walk away and realize that nursing is not for you. It is nothing to look down upon or even discuss...follow your heart and your intuition and you can never go wrong. You mentioned that while working as a CNA your heart was not really into it, so you knew. Good Luck and best wishes in your new career!!!!!

Congrats on making the big decision and following through. Life really is too short to do something that makes you miserable. Nobody can ever make enough money to make themselves happy while doing something they hate. My wife is a teacher and I envy the fact that she gets weekends and holidays off, and is never on call!
