4580 LEADERSHIP for FALL course

Published

The previous 78 page thread has been moved off site as students were posting their group project answers on the thread.

This is ACADEMIC DISHONESTY and will get you EXPELLED...end of school, done, finished!!!!

Per the terms of service, to which everyone agrees, AN does not condone this type of behavior.

The internet is not anonymous - it wouldn't take anyone anytime at all to figure out who is posting what.

I'm in the class and was in that thread. The problem is it went beyond just discussing things, to people posting the full out answers to the questions, word for word. Which is a problem. There was a school a while back that students in the program (regular RN) were sharing answers on some homework, and 1/2 the class was expelled from the program. Very similar to this.

I agree. Because of this we are now being watched. And it doesn't help that the link was posted on the course DB! We should be able to find answers from the class itself, not on this forum.

What link? The one for the reference? Someone posted it on the Q&A or what?

I wasn't in this class, but as I read through the first couple of pages of this new thread, it seems to me that this is a problem that OU nursing program needs to address. Not that students are coming to this board for support or more help, ( that is why I come here), but because the program has gotten so disorganized and the TA's and professors are so unhelpful, that students are searching for any help they can get.

When in a classroom situation, a student does not understand a part of an assignment or the content of a particular class or idea, the student is encouraged to ask for help, that is for clarification, or to have the TA explain it in different words, or a reference to additional resources.

It is clear to me as I have read through the posts for this thread and the other classes, that the Nursing program at OU does not have responsive TA's or professors. When a student asks for more information or clarification, they are often referenced back to the the same information that they have already read and didn't understand. That has happened to me.

Perhaps a few students are just looking to be spoon fed, but in my limited experience, students really want to do well, want to learn something, and want to follow the rules. Perhaps OU nursing program is to blame this time.

In my humble opinion...................

That's an understatement, lol. We've asked for help or clarification in this class, and as you said we are referred back to what we didn't understand, or we've actually been told to google it.

I agree completely. We have a way to post questions in the discussion posts of the course, but a 5 week course is short, and all of us need an answer sooner than most TAs will respond. Many of us can only do homework on certain days, which is why we are in this program. We can't always wait for 2 days to get an answer from the TA, and then have to wait 2 more days for the clarification. That's why we have this forum, to share experiences, and to help each other get through it. But, I agree that we all have to do our own work. What will we be if our answer is always someone else's?

I am one of the people that found this site when trying to get information for the staffing assignment. Sooo glad I did too! I do think there were some posts that were blatanltly giving answers, but I swear I think their answers were wrong! At least my answers were different and I got all points on the assignment, so either they were wrong or the TA just didn't read the assignments before she graded them.

I do know this class has been remarkably challenging and disorganized. Very little, if any direction and/or clarification. Getting an answer to questions was like entering the twilight zone! They just kept saying the same thing over and over again. Somewhere along the way a professor or TA needs to realize that if everyone is asking the same questions something's wrong.

Bottom line, I submitted my week 5 assignment and took my quiz tonight, so I'm done with the class. On to Assessment! Best of luck to you all!

Very well stated. I could not have said it better. When you are in a on campus class you would confer with other students for clarification and perhaps convene a study group. I think many of us felt that this forum was a good place for that. I am saddened that, appartently, it was taken a step too far and was deemed as cheating. OU definitely has some major issues on their end of things and I could not, with good conscious, recommend this program to anyone at this point. I feel frustrated that my hard earned money seems to be spent on useless busy work that basically teaches me nothing useful in my nursing career. I feel I am jumping through hoops that have been rendered meaningless. Quite frustrating.

I feel this way too. My family is bearing the brunt of me paying for these courses out of pocket. They also are giving up mom being available to them. We didnt have our yearly Pumpkin day this year because of school. I am in school to learn something. As I described my experiences to my manager last week, she said, "so basically you are teaching yourself." And that is truely what seems to be happening.

I have learned absolutely nothing in this course. Some classes were better, but not much. Is this really preparing us for graduate work? Doubt it.

I was also in this class and found this post by binging (I try not to use google) the assignment for week three. After I am done this course I only have Jr. English and Nsg excellence and then I'm DONE! I agree that this is the most disorganized and frustrating class in the entire program. I felt that I was teaching myself the entire time. I thought I was the only one out there who felt this way and was getting discuraged with this class. Reading the posts of others who felt the same way made me feel like I had someone else who was having the same frustration that I was. I agree that week 4 got a little carried away but there were students out there who were really and truly lost and didn't have the slightest idea where to start with the calculation. It was the same as if we were thrown into a trig class and were asked to solve problems with only reading the book. Maybe since Ohio knows about this post they can take the statements they read about this class and change it for future classes so they don't have the same frustration as our group did.

Please direct your angst at the instructor assigned for this course. Complete the class survey clearly documenting your concerns with objective statements on survey. If enough paying customers revolt, Dept head will get the message. ;)

when we are told to "google the answer or ask our managers at work to help us get the answer" from our TA then I feel that what we were doing was not cheating! the thread should not have been deleted by someone who is not the teacher or in the class and does not know what was going on and what we the students who are in the class were told.
