Thought I would start this thread to see who out there is planning on applying for the nursing program for 2015. I have a few classes that I am completing this fall and spring semester. If everything goes to plan I feel that I should have a fairly good chance getting in.
Good luck to those who haven't heard yet. Icequeen, those are the same exact classes I am missing for MSU also. I was thinking about maybe trying to do the concurrent enrollment, will see what they have to say about it at orientation. I might just wait until I finish LCC's program and then do the bridge through MSU after.
Luckyboy no idea what the point cutoff was this year. The email that I recieved didn't even inform me of what they calculated my points to be. Will have to see if the letter they send out will give that information.
Just an FYI for anyone who is planning on applying next year, there are major changes being made in how they figure points. Was talking with my advisor today. Next year they are completely doing away with the points for work experience and volunteer hours. There will be a point deduction for taking a class more than once, extra points for taking all prerequisites at LCC and extra points for attending the pre-nursing meeting early. Definitely a heads up for anyone applying next year. I don't believe they have printed anything yet. With the changes happening for next year, happy I made it in this year. I do think that this will make it even more difficult for out of district students to get into the program in the future.
I received my email today as well! I'm kind of bummed that its for Spring, hopefully I get to switch! I have literally nothing to do for the rest of the year :/. But congrats!! Good luck to everyone!
No worries, HaileyJen! At orientation, there will be an orange form you fill out upon which you can request to be moved in to a different group. When I was accepted, I was originally put in the 3 year program. I wanted 2 year and requested to move to the Fall 2 Year and was able to switch. Once everyone switches in to the groups they want, they fill any remaining seats with people on the wait list. Believe it or not, there are actually people who don't bother to show up for orientation or decide to opt out of nursing school before it even begins.
Good luck to all of you beginning your journey! I just graduated from the program and will take the NCLEX in a few more weeks. It's an experience like no other. You are going to learn SO much! Congrats

I'm doing the RN-BSN route with WGU. Online and can be done in 6 months. Cheap too!
