Hi. Wondering if any of you have taken on the board without a lawyer?
im thinking about hiring one , I've just spent so much money in the last several months and not sure .
I'm in Mississippi. Thanks
Im in texas. I got a lawyer for 3k total. Worth every penny, I went to the dependancy evaluation and basically avoided some question so that I don't go to rehab or get referred to Tpapn, I admitted that I took the vials but just out of curiosity, the cheapest rehab around here is 45k and I have no work as of now. The psychiatrist wrote to the board that I likely sold the narcs I diverted. Long story short, lawyer got me probation with no tpapn or therapy, but with 3 years drug testing.
My advice, get a lawyer with a set fee and a free consultation. Do not get an horly lawyer. I had one try to charge my 125/hr. So far my lawyer billed me for 86 hrs (that's what it shows that he spent on my case) I really doubt whether he spent more than 5 hrs on it. But yes, get a lawyer, with a set fee, otherwise you will spend 10k and they will drop you as soon as you don't pay living you to deal with board.
Good luck
Get a lawyer. They will guide you through. The BON or whoever, makes money, lots of money. My chemical dependancy evaluation was supposed to to 200, when I called back to clarify and book an appt and told them it was for BON, the price went up to 2k, I finally found one for 800 after I told her that's all I had. I'm supposed to do weekly drug screens for 3 years, average cost is $80, I found 2 that can come to a workplace for an extra $50. I'm hoping to get an 8 hr job so I don't have to fork alot of money. From talking to people some drug collection places intentionally delay getting you in after you check in. All in all when this is said and done, I will have used all my savings, and probably be homeless. That's the price to pay for stupidity. I regret ever touching a vial of that stuff
I would get lawyer. I have a very proactive one and had not been for her I would not of received my license back this fast. I know people who have done it on their own and the board takes forever. Also, legally the board isn't allowed to contact me. They have to contact my lawyer if they need anything. It saves me a lot of heart ache. If anyone is in Ohio I can give a great reference to a firm. They weren't money hungry and I can contact my lawyer the same day.
Thank you. I've already given a statement to the board ( in Feb 2016) so it may not do much good to hire one now but I will definitely look into it, I can at least talk to one and find out . Do you know of anyone has hired a lawyer late in the process after they have already given a statement?
