Latrobe, Launceston nurses may join strike

Nurses at Latrobe and Launceston will consider industrial action next week, as anger grows over staff shortages in Tasmania's public hospitals. The move follows a series of work bans at the North West Regional Hospital in Burnie.

From today, around 30 nurses working in operating suites there will implement work bans in protest over staff shortages.

Nursing Federation spokeswoman Neroli Ellis says there is growing concern across Tasmania over the lack of staff in public hospitals, and people need to get involved.

Funny, I thought just the same thing! :chuckle I've been thinking about returning to work. Even if only for a couple of days a week. Retirement gets BORING sometimes! :rolleyes: Then again, I read all that's hapening in the nursing workforce and ponder, do I really want to go back to all that stress and hassle? I dunno, what can we do to ease the shortage? Besides oldies like me returning that is.

I would go there just for the cold - I hate the heat, and after suffering through the last couple of hot days, Tassie sounds like a good idea!

it's not ALWAYS cold, it was 37 degrees there last week.

and latrobe could be a really nice place to work if it wasn't so short-staffed. i did some training there and the set-up was pretty nice.
