All she needs to do is meet NM requirements for renewing license and renew it, they are not asking for an extension. Most if not all states will not issue a indefinite license they have to be renewed every X amount of years. This link for NM should help http://www.bon.state.nm.us/cont_ed.php
Don't be sad...it's not too late!
When states issue a nursing license, it is only good for a few years. The length of time the license is good for depends on the state. For example, my state's license is only good for 2 years--and then I need to renew it to keep it active.
As Silverdragon said, you need to go to the website for the state to find out exactly how to renew it. Most states--and I see that New Mexico is one of them--require a certain number of "Continuing Education" hours in order to renew the license. You had the whole 24 months that the original license was valid to earn these CE hours, but you are running out of time if the license expires in a month! One option you have--and it is the quickest option--is to earn these CE hours online. There are many websites that offer online CE hours. (Maybe someone else can point you in the right direction, since I have never done it online myself.)
So, don't waste any more time. A month is enough time to earn the CE's and renew your license, but you need to start now. Also, you cannot endorse an expired license to other states--your best option would be to renew the license you already have. Good luck!
Why are you wanting to endorce your license to another state? Are you planning on moving to that state? Or are you just looking to keep the license active. As NurseNurse stated, there are places that you can go online to renew your license. Usually the BRN of the state that you're inquiring about most likely has a list of approved courses and schools. Try searching the BRN first and see how that goes. Good Luck

Have a friend whose license at New Mexico would expire on September.
With just 1month left, could she still endorse her license or no chance at all to other state...if it's still possible, what state is good for her license?....thank you
