Last semester prereqs

Published

I am finishing my last semester of prereqs before starting Nursing Fundamentals and Clinicals next fall. In trying to open up as much study time for next fall I have registered for A&p2, Pharm and Algebra for this January. Just starting to be a little concerned if this maybe too much, my initial logic was that it was a good setup to get ready for excessive studying and challenges next fall. My youngest at home is 15 and I work part time. Any thoughts?

I may just be second guessing myself and getting a little nervous about failing.

Any thoughts on the courses? Or courseload? It's 11 credit hours with 1 lab.

In my opinion sounds doable. At my school they do anatomy and physiology as seperate classes, finishing physiology tonight. If you are organized I do believe that will be key. I made sure to spend time every day reading and studying for my physiology class. Have already read on my own the information that was going to be covered in class definitely helped, I already was some what familiar with the info and hearing the lecture after helped to clarify and cement the info. I am taking 15 credit hours in the spring microbiology and pharmacology being two of the classes along with working full time. I expect that it is going to be a busy semester, but being organized will definitely help. For pharmacology if you haven't seen them yet a member on here shared flashcards they made up https://allnurses.com/nursing-student-assistance/pharmacology-flashcards-595483.html, hopefully the link works. If not you can find it under the nursing assistance sub forum. I am planning on using these to help with my pharmacology class this spring.

I think it is totally doable. I also agree that a somewhat aggressive course-load will get you into the right frame of mind for nursing school. Nothing will be worse than getting in and realizing you don't know how to handle it. I'm also starting my last semester of pre-reqs in January. I'm taking A&P II, Microbiology, Statistics, Humanities I, and Yoga. All but yoga have a lab. I will work very part time and have two little ones at home. I know it's going to be very challenging but I really want to get in that place where I believe in myself before hitting nursing school in the fall. :) You'll do great! Stay organized and don't procrastinate.

It's definitely do-able :) Trust me, you don't want to have to take ANY additional courses while in nursing school!!!!
