Hey everyone!!
I was just curious to see how much in loans I will need. How much is LaSalle's Achieve program per year? I mean, I see the list of "per credit" tuition, but what has this figured out to for you? I just need to know if I will be $40k in debt or $100k!!
Thanks for your help!!

Hey, you should call financial aid...they are pretty nice at La Salle. I am going into the day program this fall and I have a few friends who are going into the night program..I am pretty sure they said the achieve program may be a little cheaper than the day program. After all of the fees the day program comes out to about $34k per year.
Were you accepted into the achieve program? Good luck!

The current cost of the entire ACHIEVE program is $25,300, however tuition just went up to $500/credit so I'm not sure if that figure is updated. Also, make sure to plan for other expenses such as parking, background checks, the list goes on. I'll be a senior in the ACHIEVE program this fall--feel free to pm or email me any time...

How is the program so far? I just need to take my entrance exam and soon I will hear back from Lasalle. I am really nervous and hope I get acceptance for Fall 2011. How do you pay for the cost? Since it is 500 per credit. Also if you have nursing books already from another school will I still be needing new books. Patho and pharm I am guessing is all the same overall. Thanks.
It is what you make of it--some people do really well and others not so much. Even though it's technically part-time it doesn't feel like it. Plus most of us have jobs, kids, etc. It's absolutely doable, but it's hard work.
I get federal financial aid (like PHEAA etc), plus I have a couple scholarships (nothing like free money). I also have tuition assistance from my job.
I wouldn't rely on using books from another school. Some people get away with using an earlier edition of the required text but I think that's as far as you can stretch that. A lot of the books come with codes to extra content and CDs that you'll need--so you really need to have the right books. On the bright side, in addition to buying books you can also buy used ones for cheaper and some of them you can even rent. And if you hook up with a senior you can probably borrow their books as they don't change too much year to year.
Good luck with your exam!
Thanks I have been looking over the nln review books and it seems like SATs from high school kinda material plus science questions.
Does LaSalle give any scholarships for achieve students? What color are the clinical uniforms, just curious? Also for clinical do we need like nursing central application on itouch or on iphone? I know some nursing schools needs that when you are on the floor. It cost like 95 per year to renew the membership. Can you estimate about how many books do we use per semester? Thanks and sorry for the many questions. I just want a heads up on what I am getting myself into.

Where do you go to take the entrance exam at lasalle? And if they do where can I find a schedule?
I took it at Lasalle University main campus- St Benilde building...on a Saturday.. from 9am-1pm...
you have to register through the nln website...
https://www.nlnonlinetesting.org/cgi-bin/DxR_NLN/validate.pl
There you have to create an account and choose Lasalle University and then only will you see the dates available. I think they only give the exam 2x a month.
Good luck!
Thank you soo much.

Sorry phillygrl, just saw this. You probably have all this info by now but just in case...
Clinical uniforms are navy blue. Currently we wear navy blue scrub pants and navy blue polo shirts. There's also a white labcoat that I never wore a day past Fundamentals. They're really strict about ppl being "out of uniform" at first, but as seniors we are wearing all kind of stuff by now! I probably shouldn't be corrupting the incoming juniors but I went and bought my own navy blue koi scrubs and took the school patch off that polo and slapped it on my scrubs! It drove me nuts that the scrub pants and the polo were two different navy blues...
You aren't required to have Nursing Central etc. but many ppl do. I have it on my iPhone--it comes in handy for clinicals and writing all those care plans and looking up meds. However, depending on the clinical instructor and/or site they don't like you to have phones out anyway (cameras, HIPAA and all).
We use a lot of books, lol. It varies per semester. So it's really hard to tell you, besides they've changed the books a little since I started. There's usually a "main" textbook, the study guide that goes with it, and depending on the class there may other "recommended but not required" books--mostly NCLEX question books etc. I personally do not buy anything from the bookstore and prefer Amazon. I can get a brand new book from Amazon for the same price the bookstore is going to charge you for a used one. Also, now they're required to post the ISB #'s on the bookstore site so it makes it even easier to shop online.
Feel free to ask any additional questions, though emailing me directly is probably the best way to reach me.
See you ladies in August!

Hey guys,
For those of you presently in the program I have a few questions: Is it mandatory to buy our scrub pants from the vendor who comes to campus? Also how often will we wear our lab coats? Is the Lasalle emblem available to buy seperately? Just curious......Thanks alot

Hi there,
Supposedly, it is mandatory to use the vendor. Depending on how scrutinizing your clinical instructor is, they will send you home for being out of uniform (if they can even tell)--and then you'll have to make up a clinical. But eventually (especially by senior year), most people have swapped out the standard uniform for their own. You can probably buy the La Salle patch separate (from the vendor), but all I did was take mine off the old uniform and have the cleaners sew it on my new ones. And the lab coats? We probably wore them only the first semester, during lab--if that. They're hot and the sleeves get in the way. Most sites don't want you to have sleeves anyway b/c of the germ factor. For winter time when it's cold, they let you wear a navy or white long sleeve shirt under your polo or scrub top.
Happy shopping!
