This could be in the travel section, but I'd prefer local input.
I've been travelling for the past year, and considering Las Vegas for the winter. Any current ER nurses that work at any of the HCA facilities have any insight into working conditions, patient ratios, techs or no techs, etc, etc. Not interested in rumors, just actual ER experiences, thanks.
Looking at Sunrise, Mountain-View, and Southern Hills (I work with Parallon quite a bit).

Sunrise - high acuity, no cnas or lab, you do it all. Great staff but not uncommon to have two ICU, an iMC, and a tele pts all at once.
Mt view - busy, moderately high acuity, many staff there that left the harsher inner city Sunrise. You will not loose your skills their or your license.
Southern hills - the nicest, newest and smallest hca facility, intermittently busy, small staff.
They use meditech. Ick! It's a beast!
As for support staff, no cnas, phlebotomy only if you have a hard stick. There are paramedics who can place IVs, draw labs, etc. They are a mixed back. Some are great and will glove up and get right in there with you to clean up that GI bleed and others who will roll there eyes and walk away.
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

I just saw this post and was wondering about Sunrise and what you mean by no lab? I am used to starting my own IVs but there are those occasional that are just difficult, what do they do in that case? Will the providers just do a femoral stick or something of that nature. I am thinking about an 8 week contract out there. have heard some horror stories about Las Vegas hospitals but are they really that bad???
Thanks for the information in advance!
