Before I started school I had questions about needing a laptop or a pda and what was important?

So I got a laptop and I used it all year, everyday. I wanted a dell and I got all the goodies stuff. its the inspiron 8500, theres an 8600 now I think.

anyway. today I was thinking. Its huge, too big and bulky really.

In hindsight I would have gotten somthing smaller.

havn't gotten the pda yet but will soon to help keep stats in clinical.

I'm using a Dell Axiom PDA and love it- it's a wireless system that hooks to the net as well as housing all my current medical programs. :)

Why would a SRNA need a laptop? Do you really need to carry one around, and for what purpose? I have a Dell Inspiron and was going to get a desktop for the bigger screen and easier to use keyboard.

my program requires you purchase a laptop. the website posts pp slides and web enhanced reading. i love having it for the pure convience of being able to study, work on projects etc where ever i want.

i am not limited to my house - or the computer labs on campus. my study group is much more versatile because we all have our our computer.

I have been a Mac user since they first came on the market. Right now, I have a 12" PowerBook that is the most wonderful computer I ever had. It is lightweight, long battery life, C-D burner, etc. As much as I don't like to give any money to Microsoft, I did buy MS Office for Word, Excel, Power Point and Entourage. Filemaker Pro for my anesthesia database and Quick Books as an accounting program.

It is lightweight and portable enough that i take it to work with me everyday, take it on trips, watch DVDs on airplanes, do my yoga with my instructor's DVD, transfer music and audiobooks to my I-Pod and above all--it is easy to use and NO VIRUSES.

I have been considering getting a Mac but I don't know much about them. As far as transfering data b/w Mac and Windows, how does that work? Could I receive a windows/word document from someone and have it work properly on a Mac? And things like powerpoint presentations etc, can you create/view them with a Mac? Thanks for any info... as you can tell, I belong to the Mac-illiterate club.
