language tests for people overseas coming to U.S.

After CGFNS test. I know one has to pass the language test requirement. Is there one language test or are there many you have to take? I heard they just have to pass the TOEFL exam and others said they have to pass the IELTS. Can someone tell me the difference? What is/are the name/s of the test/s.?

It's probably better for you to email them vs calling them that way you can get your proof in writing. You can also save yourself money as calling can be expensive when calling long distance out of the country. If you don't get a response within a couple of weeks I would email them again and keep doing it until you get your answer. GOOD LUCK

Im here in MD right now so i't not a problem for me calling them. I also sent an email to the BON just dont know when they are going to reply to my e-mail. Thanks for the advice.

Yes, it is required that you have a score of 26. At least, it was a 2y1/2 ag o. I did the OPI, but it was very difficult because the owner of the place it seems not to be very reliable or maybe I need more experience. You need to go the the board, that is the best advice and be very patient because it takes a lot of time. Do you work in other state already? Maybe you don't need to do the English test if you have your license already. Good Luck!!!

I dont have any hospital experience yet. My original license was in California and i want to apply for endorsement and one of MD's requirement is to pass and English proficiency exam. Should i take TOEFL or OPI??? Which one is easier?

I just paid for CES (CGFNS). I put in my registration number for TOEFL ibt and it says...test results: PASSED. test results speaking: FAILED

Im like ***...my testing score was good! does it mean i have to do it all over again?

Florida board of nursing states i need a passing score of 76... Im confused

What does it say on their website?

It is required that the following evidence from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) be submitted directly to the Board office:

- evidence from CGFNS that the secondary education, nursing education, and license are comparable to those required for registered nurses in the Commonwealth;

- evidence of passage of an English language proficiency examination approved by the CGFNS, unless the applicant meets the CGFNS criteria for an exemption from the requirement.

Do they have a specific score requirement for every section of the TOEFL? What is your total score?
