I haven’t been able to find any recent threads. Has anybody else been accepted? I wanted to know if anybody would be taking the opportunity to test out of Patho and Foundations. Also if you’re not from the Charleston area and moving from out of state like myself, what are your plans for housing and working?

I went there...I didnt bridge though...if I can remember correctly you omit foundations but not patho..the lady who did lpn to rn bridge in my class passed away.....as far as work...its a college town...you cant try bartending at some of the local places or serving tables....but I will say..its hard to work and complete this program...I'm did some cna shifts while I was attending..but I drove everyday from Bloomington normal (90 miles) each day to attend classes. For living...look under eastern Illinois university apartments and if nothing has changed you would be able to stay in their dorms...their are plenty of spaces around...look at mattoon as well...its like 10 min away

Hi @BSN2MD and @LVN/
I've looked at Lakeview myself after being referred/recommended by a nurse I work with. Would either of you be willing to provide some insight about the program, one location versus the other, any helpful info worth knowing, etc? Family is a bit concerned as its the "Chicago region" and with the winters. Cant seem to find many reviews on the program/school/areas. Thank you in advance
@LVN/ Hello, first its in central Illinois. you are about 1.5 - 2 hours south of Chicago. The area is safe. I went to the Charleston campus. As far as safety in both places, Charleston is safer than Danville. It is a great school and I have no negative things to say about it. It got me what I needed, and took boards once. The program itself was tough, meaning you are to do what is necessary to get through it. They do not baby you, but help is always available. If you stay humble, mature, attend class, and study. You will do fine. This school truthfully prepared me for med school. If you choose Lakeview, I do not think that you will be disappointed. As far as the winters, you will learn how to drive in the snow LOL. It's not too bad, but again its Illinois, and the winters start to get a little bad around January and February. If you have any questions, just let me know. Good luck. ~ Wes
Hi Wes,
Thank you for taking the time to reply and give some insight, especially the safety factor. My point of reference person went to the Danville campus, but that was around 8/9 years ago. I have read some info that Danville seems a bit more crime involved.
If I am offered admission, I will definitely reach out more! Thank you again

I am planning on attending Lakeview and I was wondering about how long you are in classes and clinicals in a single day. I was looking at the sample schedule and on some days it had you starting in the morning and ending at 9 p.m. Am I looking at this right? I just like to plan ahead and mentally prepare myself. ?
@Deanna Braden So I'm in my second semester at the Charleston campus. In the first semester, my week was Monday-Thursday.
Monday- Lecture 8-12 and Lab 1-3
Tuesday- Clinical 0630-1230 and class 2-4
Wednesday- Class 0800-1030 and Lab 1030-1200
Thursday- Class 2-5
Of course, that was me taking the full course load of 14 credit hours (4 classes).
This second semester is 17 credit hours
Monday- nothing
Tuesday- Class 2-6
Wednesday- Clinical 0630-1230 and a 2nd clinical every other week from 3-9
Thursday- Class 7-10 and Lab 12-2
Friday- Class 9-1130
I hope that answers your question. Again that was the Charleston campus. I believe Danville's schedule differs so I'm not sure if it would look the same and they also go semester by semester with the times. We got a few new instructors last semester and this semester so some class times changed last minute.
@Jenrod91 I was already an LPN when I started the program so some class content was a little easier for me than others. What I will say is that it is important to study. They literally give you access to all of the resources that you will need to pass. It will take a lot of time on your part but it's 4 semesters of your life that you will need to just hunker down and stay motivated. The Charleston campus is a good 2.5 hours away from Chicago and very boring. There are the EIU college students that make up a lot of the younger people around here but there's not much to do. I'm actually transferring to Danville and will be commuting from the Champaign/Urbana area. It's a personal preference but there are more jobs/stores, etc. I have been told that the Danville area is sketchy, however, I'm almost sure it depends on where you live and I talk to someone regularly who goes to that campus and they have never had an issue living out there so it just boils down to what you make of it. They canceled class a couple of times this semester due to ice on the roads but for the most part, I believe Illinois normally has a better system to clear roads before everybody is out driving in the morning.
You guys are amazing! Thank you so much! This 100% answered my questions and I am truly excited to start the program in Charleston.
Thank you once again and I am truly grateful!
@Deanna Braden are you scheduled to be starting this Fall? ?
Yes I am! ?
@Deanna Braden Oh we may have to talk more! First person I've met that is going there this Fall!
