  1. Now how do they do that calculation since a transcript will only show letter grades?
  2. Thanks for the fast response. The recruiter emailed me back a prequalification form and oddly enough she said if I'm a December grad then we can start on my packet in February. She also said that the applicants she had for this year held leadership positions (NSNA and things like that). My program also considers an A to be 94% so needless to say, I won't qualify for NTP unless I make a 4.0 these next two semesters which as they get progressively more difficult is not going to happen. I think I'll try for HPSP and do a BSN-DNP instead. Anyway, good luck. I hope you get selected.
  3. @LindsLinds97 I saw on your other post that you went ahead and started applying for NTP. Can you explain how your process is going? I spoke to a recruiter briefly last year who told me to contact them after I passed the NCLEX, but I see other information on a new brochure my school secretary sent out from a different recruiter in the area who is taking a while to respond to me. I can't find any deadlines. Does the board only meet once a year, and if so, when is that? Also, I see you said you didn't have a 3.5 GPA. Is that a requirement to apply or more like a strong candidate suggested GPA?
  4. @Deanna Braden So I'm in my second semester at the Charleston campus. In the first semester, my week was Monday-Thursday. Monday- Lecture 8-12 and Lab 1-3 Tuesday- Clinical 0630-1230 and class 2-4 Wednesday- Class 0800-1030 and Lab 1030-1200 Thursday- Class 2-5 Of course, that was me taking the full course load of 14 credit hours (4 classes). This second semester is 17 credit hours Monday- nothing Tuesday- Class 2-6 Wednesday- Clinical 0630-1230 and a 2nd clinical every other week from 3-9 Thursday- Class 7-10 and Lab 12-2 Friday- Class 9-1130 I hope that answers your question. Again that was the Charleston campus. I believe Danville's schedule differs so I'm not sure if it would look the same and they also go semester by semester with the times. We got a few new instructors last semester and this semester so some class times changed last minute. @Jenrod91 I was already an LPN when I started the program so some class content was a little easier for me than others. What I will say is that it is important to study. They literally give you access to all of the resources that you will need to pass. It will take a lot of time on your part but it's 4 semesters of your life that you will need to just hunker down and stay motivated. The Charleston campus is a good 2.5 hours away from Chicago and very boring. There are the EIU college students that make up a lot of the younger people around here but there's not much to do. I'm actually transferring to Danville and will be commuting from the Champaign/Urbana area. It's a personal preference but there are more jobs/stores, etc. I have been told that the Danville area is sketchy, however, I'm almost sure it depends on where you live and I talk to someone regularly who goes to that campus and they have never had an issue living out there so it just boils down to what you make of it. They canceled class a couple of times this semester due to ice on the roads but for the most part, I believe Illinois normally has a better system to clear roads before everybody is out driving in the morning.
  5. I haven’t been able to find any recent threads. Has anybody else been accepted? I wanted to know if anybody would be taking the opportunity to test out of Patho and Foundations. Also if you’re not from the Charleston area and moving from out of state like myself, what are your plans for housing and working?
  6. Hi, I’m an active duty 68C currently. My goal is also to finish my BSN. I will answer your questions about her finishing her BSN if she enlists first. There are a few different programs for us to apply for while we are active duty in order to obtain our Bachelor’s degree: AECP (strictly for nursing), Green to Gold (There is a lot that goes with that option but she would have to do ROTC) The 52 week time starts after basic training. Basic training is 10 weeks. There are two phases. Everybody goes to phase I at Fort Sam Houston and then Phase 2 is held at 5 different locations and the placement depends on which class number she is in. Going reserve would be the better option if she wants to finish school, however there really is no point in sitting through a year of school if she already knows she wants to be an RN. Being an officer and being enlisted are like night and day. Army ROTC sounds like the better option. There are scholarships for that which will pay for school if she can get them. Even if she doesn’t get the scholarship she can still do ROTC. I am a young mom so if she is dead set on having kids early she’ll want to get that degree first instead of the other way around. I did not get a bonus and I did wait for spot to open for the job because it was the only one I was interested in. Everybody in my class who was reserves had gotten a bonus.
  7. Has anyone applied for this location for the Prelice sure program with the April 1 deadline. If so what are your stats ? Also, did anyone use Straighterline for any of the pre-reqs?
