LACC Spring 2020

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I didn’t see a discussion yet for LACC spring 2020 application period so I decided to start one! Has anyone heard about making it into the lottery yet?!

Sorry, one more question... Do we need to submit our high school transcripts or high school diploma? I have my diploma but getting transcripts are kind of complicated. I graduated high school in 2011, and I went to 3 different high schools. Two of them are in different cities, and one of them was technically a continuation school where I did independent study for some time. I hardly remember exactly which year I went to which school, since I did one semester at Sunny Hills High School, and then another semester at La Sierra High School (a continuation school) to help with my credits during freshman year, and then I did the same thing again sophomore year. Then I moved to Culver City High School Junior year and graduated from there. As you can see, my high school situation was a little complicated. Would it be possible for me to just send the transcripts of the high school where I graduated from, which was Culver City High School? Or can I just submit a copy of my high school diploma? Do I absolutely have to submit all of my transcripts from every high school i've been to? I've also been a college student since 2016 and almost have 60 credits at West LA college. Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you have associates degree you dont need HS trans. So basically you submit trans for highest level of education COMPLETE. To save you some time, I used this website to order my transcript for HS

https://needmytranscript.com/

I dont know if you need trans for all HSs attended or just the one you graduated from.

Hi everyone - I was accepted to LACC Fall 2020 cohort and would love to hear about how the program is going for you all/if you have any tips of recommendations. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi jpalmtree, welcome and congratulations!

I just finished my 1st semester, so I know how confusing everything is for new nursing students and I know ALLLL the questions you and others have LOL.

☆1 - I wish we had online lectures all through out 1st semester, not just toward the middle due to COVID-19. Would have saved lots of gas money.

For me, nursing program so far is basically teaching you to ask why your about to do something to a patient. They're teaching advanced critical thinking.

2- Books- Do not waste your money, like I did, on the 1st semester book bundle purchase. It's $550 for about 11 total books, drug book, codes etc. You don't need all those. Just need 1 Fundamentals book and 1 MedSurg book.

3- don't freak out on your first day/ week. It's a LOTT of new info and requirements.

4- For the medical packet, do your physical exam with your primary the day before it's due. This will save you a lot of headache, like I'm going thru right now, for when 2nd semester starts.

5- If covid class restrictions continue, if your able to, buy a laptop/desktop with lots of storage and memory. Assignments/homework are given in abundance.

This was my primary question going into 1st semester, what r your schedules like and can I work - I was able to keep my fulltime 40 hour a week job all throughout the 1st semester while finishing with an A in Pharmacology, A in Fundamentals, B in MedSurg and completing all the clinical hours.

☆ Class schedules for us for the first 2 months was Monday, Tues, Wed, and Thursdays lectures and labs. Last 2 months was Monday all day lecture and Thursday 2 hours lecture Tuesday and Wednesday hospital clinicals. Let me know if u have other questions.
