U.S.A. California

Published

Hey guys, I have a question. I had an interview with LAC+USC and received a letter that I passed the oral exam. I read in the letter that they are going to contact me if positions open up. I am a new grad RN. Have you been in my situation? How long does it take until they call you? Do we have another interview after the oral interview or this is it? Please share your experience with me..thank you

Anyone else had an interview for the DEM Jail Clinic @ LAC USC? If you did please let me know if/when you hear anything back from them in regards to being hired...had an interview today..but I've been reading from prior posts related to other units that it may take a few weeks to receive an offer...

Hey every one :) Just want to share my experience with county...

May 15, I applied

May 31, took written exam

June 18, Got the letter saying i passed and was on the eligibility list

July 11, went to harbor to fill out a "hard copy" application

July 19, Med surg interview at harbor

July 24, ER interview Harbor and Job offer from med surg :) and did my live scan.

Now... just waiting to clear to get my physical. I am so exited... its a long process, but worth it. I got a part time night shift position on a trauma step down unit, and after looking for work for a year... i couldnt be happier. :)

Keep your heads up, pray, and follow up!! Good luck guys! and thanks for this thread... it was sp helpful :)

Hello! do any of you have tips for la county interview? Anything is appreciated :)

Hi all, I need to make a decision between county and clinic jobs. I got hire at a clinic for full time and full benefits. I then got an offer to work for med-surg at county as relief nurse night shift. It's temporary with no benefits. As a new grad, which one would you choose? Thanks.

Did anyone take the EKG test for ER position? If so how was it? I do know how to interpret it but not so much the placement. I got a contingent offer but I have to pass the background check which I did, then the physical and EKG.

hi! i found myself in the same spot as you. . . i left a new job at a smaller hospital, full benefits, in the shift and unit i wanted. i also got hired as temp at county. recruiters and managers say that almost everyone that comes in as temp or "f" item eventually becomes permanent! its just a matter of time. working as relief nurse is a great experience u get to rotate and make ur own schedule! which gets u a lot of exposure!

good luck!!!!

Thank you, XimenaToledo. I did choose county, and feel more confident in my decision after reading your post. The nurse manager and recruiters told me that as well. Have you started? Thanks again, and good luck in your nursing career as well.

RN_here, I can't private message you since I am very new here. Thanks for your recommendation. I chose county since I still work at a pharmacy and get benefits. No, I did not contact them. I received calls from two county facilities after I received the letter. Good luck.

Hello! Is anyone kind enough to share some interview advice that helped them land a job at LAC + USC or just at any county facility? going to have an interview soon. Thanks in advance!

anyone? :(

Hi, all i can say is that questions are easy in my case (was able to answer with confident taking from clinical and school experience). Give reasons why you are best fit for the position and give examples to back up. TAKE ENOUGH TIME AND THINK BEFORE ANSWERING. Little nervousness is fine, but don't be scared. Ask appropiate questions at the end. That's all I can say. Best of luck to you.

hi. was wondering for those of you who got hired and did the live scan recently (within the year), how long did you have to wait before getting your background clearance to move onto doing the physical clearance?

Don't get discourage if you are hired as an "F" item. Depending on your performance, your unit managers can make you a permanent hire as soon as six months.
